Hey all; My name is Billy Dickey, I live in S.Ryegate. I work at a wood burning power plant also nown as a bio-mass plant. We here make enough electricity to power about 4 or 5 small towns. My inlaws have a dairy farm in Groton, we milk about 60 ladies in waiting. With another 40 or so, just being lazy or learning lifes lessons on how to be a young cow! I have a lovely young bride of 9yrs, with three little ones that drive her nuts! I started out with a 03 SD 6.0 PSD, but times got hard so I let her go. Now I drive a 2000 SD with the 7.4 PSD, she has a set of dualls pushing her, and a 8'x9' flat bed. She is used to help gather firewood for the winter, and used on the farm for what ever not.

I like to consider myself an avid outdoorsmen, but lately ive been super busy with work, and helping inlaws. I like firearms, I have a small collection, that is used on a regular basis. I like to fish, even though im not that good at. I enjoy riding bikes, and wheelers, but at the moment im kinda in between machines.

Well Ok I took the first step, whos next, lets get to know ourselves, then plan a get together!

Ron here in Milton.

Moved here from Toronto Canada in summer 98 for Husky Injection Molding, to set up the high tolerance vertical milling machine section and train people for 3 yrs. Was asked to stay after the 3 yrs and given a green card. Still training people here in CNC Programming as well as others in Husky's Luxembourg facility in Europe.

Bought our 2000 V10 X when she was 1.5yrs old from G Stone in Middlebury. 29,000 on it, now 85,000. We've had a yr here and there with only 4k on it. It was Todd and his dad's personal vehicle. He told us he had to get it from a dealer down south when they first came out because he wanted one right away and couldn't get delivery for himself. I guess first deliveries went by sales volumes. Shortly after putting that info together, I realized that having an early model - Dec. 99 build date - wasn't anything to be proud of. It's a Limited, missing a bunch of the Limited stuff. No reverse sensors, no fog/road lamps.

Tossed around the idea of selling her a few times and almost did once, but glad we didn't. Great to have around when family visits for outings.

Not happy with performance for a while. I guess the 3.73 gears aren't meant for towing a 32' camper, but what I really need explained is why when towing, I can find a sweet spot with that V10 and climb grades in O/D with next to no throttle and then loose that sweet spot on the flat after the hill, and be in 2nd gear screaming at 4500rpm up the next hill. I hate computers. I completely understand the gearing aspect, but if it can find the grunt with no effort sometime, why can't it find it other times, and why should I change the gearing if it is in fact capable of blowing you away with performance sporadically.

Need to do the exhaust manifold repair (last yr really). Looking to go the Thorley header route. Need to replace the rear bumper (wife) (re the no-reverse sensors). Just a crease but I don't like it. Have a new Ford one sitting in the garage waiting patiently. Did the Bilstein shocks. Huge difference. Should put a Helwig sway bar on the back, just haven't got to it yet. Had it undercoated in Canada twice when new(er). Not that thick crap (Rusty Jones?) that clogs your body panel drains and screws up your grounds. thin film similar to what some steel operations use to keep bare metal from rusting. I can sell the stuff to a blind man - Vermont truck, no rust. Same as our 97 Town Car with 150k on it.

Yep, lets get a few more people on here and get together and share experiences. I'm in for camping, not sure if that works for everyone. Maybe a camprground with a large day use area and shelter.

Ron

cando 11-20-2009 10:53 PM

Hey all Ive been gone for awhile, its good to be back, and good to see some fellow NEK's on here. We should get together sometime.

vermonter150 11-29-2009 01:38 PM

Hello, I'm Jesse Fraser, I live in Burlington Vt with my wife of just over 6 months now. (hopefully we will be out of Burlington in the next couple years) I came to Vermont about 7 years ago when my family moved here from a small town in Ont Canada. I am one of the owners of Jade Lotus tattoo and piercing on 64 North st in Burlington (we have been open for 5 months now) I am also a Body Piercer and apprenticing to become a tattoo artist as well.

I just picked up a 1988 F150 in a trade for some guns I hadn't been shooting much any more. It has a 302 5L V8 hooked up to a M5OD transmission. 169,000 miles on it. 3" body lift and rolling on 33's. It is definitely a project truck, but does have a current inspection, and I will have it re inspect-able in a couple weeks if all goes well.

I hope to get it reliable enough to be a daily driver, but only plan on using it to go to the shooting range, off road trails, or pick up old motorcycles/parts for my other projects. This is my first truck (and only second vehicle total).

cando 11-29-2009 02:20 PM

Hey Jessie, welcome aboard! If you do some searching around you will find a place that has all kinds of questions and tricks, ideas and mods to do to your truck. Eventually as the Vermont chapter builds in population, we will probably have "get togethers" were we can all meet and have a good time. Once again weclome to FTE.

BIGKEN 11-29-2009 05:04 PM

Welcome aboard Jesse...:-X25...while you're checking things out around FTE...stop by the VT B/S Thread and join in.

Now...a bit of clarification please. Is your wife just over six months old......or have you been married for just over six months??? :-X04

You may want to go into hiding for a while now that you just spilled how old your wife is.

Hi

Hi, my name is Todd LeBlanc. I live in Georgia, VT. I have lived in VT since I was about 4 or so...... I am employeed as a Tax Assessor and own Homestead Campground in Georgia, VT. I have a 2002 F250 Crew Cab, 2005 Expedition, 2000 Focus, 1998 Escort and even a Ford 1520 compact tractor. Was a Chevy fan for a short stint, been a Jeep fan forever, and now a Ford fan for life. :-wink

wildstang 12-02-2009 06:32 AM

Glad to meet you Todd, welcome aboard. I have a 98 escort wagon also for my run a bout.

1pfieffer1 12-02-2009 06:56 AM

I call mine my "sh**box Ford Focus" because everybody laughs at me for driving it, but you know what? It gets 33 MPG and has 120k miles on it. Still going strong with minimal repairs required. I have had to replace the wheel bearings at around 100k miles, front struts at around 90k, and a power steering line & pump around 105k miles, other than that, brakes, tires, oil. Not bad for almost 10 yrs old. Best part is it's paid for........all my vehicles are. People ask why I don't get a new one...........my reply.........why? :-D

wildstang 12-02-2009 08:18 AM

Feel the same way. Even if I have to put $200-$400 a year into for repairs, it is a hell of a lot better then $300-500 a month for a loan payment.

1pfieffer1 12-02-2009 09:07 AM

You got that right. As soon as I'm done paying for my daughter to go to college it is going to be new vehicle time for me......... With the $650 a month I'm putting out now gone, I won't even feel like I have a payment.........

Cuppy 12-15-2009 01:02 PM

Hey all, my name is Corey and I've lived in St. Albans all my life, but recently moved to Highgate to live with my girlfriend of over two years. I recently received a degree in Criminal Justice and hope to use it soon!:)

I drive an '04 F-150 XLT with a couple different mods.
Roush Off-Road dual exhaust, AEM Brute Force CAI, HBS 2 1/2" leveling kit, Dick Cepek FC II tires with black 17" mammoth wheels

BIGKEN 12-15-2009 06:06 PM

wildstang 12-17-2009 08:49 AM

Welcome aboard Corey. Hope you can find a job soon you like.

vermonster 03-17-2010 08:31 PM

Hey everyone, I'm Josh. I'm from Enosburg, went to high school at BFA-St. Albans, and am currently attending UVM with a major in forestry, minor in wildlife biology and geospatial technologies. I am an avid outdoorsman, hunting and fishing about every season, logging, sugaring, working on the family farm and with my draft horses. I recently got a 1997 F250 Light Duty, plan on putting a steel flatbed on it and a plow next year, its got the 4.6. I also had until recently a 2000 Ranger stepside XLT with some real good mods. It had 33" cooper STT's, F150 leafs and front end springs with custom fabricated mounts. Ended up giving it about 3 inches of lift, also had a homemade cold air intake, 3 inch single swept exhaust. But, long story short, I left a key at home when I came down to school and my brother got ahold of the truck as did my dad. Didn't last too long, now its sitting behind the garage hoping to get rebuilt someday

Kendrick 10-02-2010 11:36 PM

Kendrick here, moved to vt about 5 years agao to get closer to my birth family. own a 20ac farm and work computers during the day I live a bit outside of Burlington. have a F350 7.3 IDI and a E150 mark III. I hope to start fabing soon now that I have welding equipment finally. hope to make a replacement bed and bumpers for the truck as well as toys for the tractor.

wildstang 10-03-2010 05:55 AM

Hi Kendrick good to meet ya. What part of Vermont do you live in now? You sound like you stay busy with a full time job and farm. What type of farm do you have?
By the way I'm the chapter leader for Vermont. We do a monthly BS thread where you can pop in to say hi or start a discussion about something.

If you like to join the chapter you can make a request and then it will be my job to approve or deny, but most likely approve since you are a resident of Vermont now.. If you don't mind we like to have people put there first name down in the signature to be a little more personal.

wildstang 10-03-2010 08:58 AM

I see you already requested membership. I have accepted it so should be good. Yours is actually the first I have done so I will check to see if I need to do anything else.

Hi Jim,
Busy, but good. I'm trying to track down another set of wheels and snow tires before plowing season.
And gas is getting so ridiculous that I don't drive my truck much unless I have to haul something. :(
Remember when gas was less than a dollar only 10 years ago?

wildstang 09-16-2012 08:40 AM

I've been real busy also. We did some home improvementsgor an appraisal, now starting to begin rounding up firewood.

I have two sets of rims for 97 and older 8 lug trucks I am selling. Pm me if interested

twosfamily 11-10-2012 08:14 AM

Hello All! I am new to the Vermont Chapter! I tried to join just this morning through my User Panel. I guess it worked? I live in Morgan, VT. I have been here for about 5 years. Born and raised in CT (first 18 years). I spent nearly 20 years in FL, that is where I married and started my family. We had been wanting to move to Northern New England to raise our girls and 5 years ago it had taken us here! I must say it is great to be here! We love the outdoors! The people are great. Very sincere and genuine! The last year had taken its toll on my family, in particular one of my daughters who has a rather serious medical condition that is now, finally under control. She is now doing great. What do I do for work? I dabbled in structural design for a little while. Structural aspects of buildings, bridges and the like. For the majority of my years, I have been in automotive restoration. Currently, I own a small automobile restoration shop up here. Custom paint to complete restoration kind of projects. I have been in the business for 25 years. My brother and I had a large shop down in FL. It became too big and had taken too much time to run. I was spending all my time running the place and not chasing my passion of actually doing the work! When I had the family it had taken too much time away from them. Never again! That is another reason for the move and downsizing! Anyway, it is great to be on this wonderful forum and in this great Chapter! Enough of my rambling! I look forward to getting to know everyone and just plain having some fun here! Sincerely. Todd.

BIGKEN 11-10-2012 10:08 AM

Hey Todd...Welcome to the Vermont Chapter!!! I'm sure Jim will approve your membership request as soon as he gets out of bed!!! Join the guys in the B/S Thread...let them get to know you and you'll get to know them!!!

Where abouts are you in VT???
