New budget project

I decided to screw together a hot rod with what I have at home in the yard and on the shelves. I'll have to replace most of the rubber parts(hoses, etc) but I think I can do it for under $2000. About all I'm going to have to buy is some headers ,a cam and gaskets for the engine and maybe new kingpin bushings for a 4" dropped axle I just bought for $275. I only paid $900 for a truck and a half so I should be able to sell some of the extra parts to offset the expenses. The start. http://i29.photobucket.com/albums/c2...wsgtuff026.jpg :-fire

Looks like most of the parts for the front truck are sitting in a pile to the left. Did either of them come with a flat head in them?

I got the original engine and a rebuilt transmission but I have a '52 Merc 8, an Edmunds 2x2 intake and a set of Weiand heads for it (the '52). I'll keep a running ledger to see how close I come to the $2000 and addd pictures to this thread for prosperiety.:)

This is the heads and intake I bought recently on EBay, paid $200 for the heads and $150 for the intake so thecash outlay so far is $1250.00 I may take the original engine to the Hot August Nites swap meet in Reno to help offset some costs. http://i29.photobucket.com/albums/c2...zeBKLzPJ4Q.jpg , http://i29.photobucket.com/albums/c2...-TBKLe4Ehc.jpg

The sorting and gathering of parts continues. Managed to talk my brother out of a set of reversed rims he had on the front of his Model A and they match up to a set of 15" Buick rims with '49 Merc centers that I had squirelled away and a pair of matching 94 carbs. Stated the Merc engine in my 2 ton to make sure it still runs, so it's coming out for the 1/2 ton.http://i29.photobucket.com/albums/c275/jalopy45/007.jpg http://i29.photobucket.com/albums/c275/jalopy45/005.jpg http://i29.photobucket.com/albums/c275/jalopy45/002.jpg

I know a guy with a tri-power intake for that flathead........You want me to ask if he is interested in selling?

Three is always better than 2 except at night. Find out a price if you can.

Well after the Hot August Nights swap meet where I sold the spare 59A engine for $750.00 and the Sun 820 engine analyzer for $200.00 and a radiator for $65.00 all from the original purchase, I think I got my original cost down to $235.00 or in other words a build budget of $1765.00 to stay under the $2000.00. Now if I had have kept the money it would have helped but I got a case of the stupids and bought a car.

Just an update, spent $367.56 and bought a 4" dropped axle and new U-bolts for the front and back and some brake lines so the total is now $602.56. going to try and get in running for the GTG this year.
