It's pretty much the same shipping, I think the place is in WA so it would be cheaper for you than me. It's shipped large flat rate with USPS, so it can't be more than $17 or so to send your old one back. The whole process was pretty easy for me, and they even gave me a military discount. I would use them again. It's a nice box.

I've had one reman from the Oreillys store that got sloppy in about 16 months...After that aggravation I got a redhead...that was 10 years ago and it is still perfectly tight....I got a newer van and did the same replacement with a redhead....The difference between the worn out originals, reman and what redhead does is significant in my experience..... I am local to them and have been in their plant (no shipping but sales tax)...they do a LOT of boxes a month and are pretty proud of their work.... Cheers |

Your box will not be the same , and the guys with 99 to 04 4wd trucks really like there Red head. When I did mine I took the box off with the arm still on. |
Just installed redhead steering box

Also replaced lower steering shaft with Borgeson with vibration damper and found out that the drag link wasn't right so I put a drop down drag link fit like a glove 1977 f250 XLT RANGER 4inch lift 35 inch with high performance 390 Fe |

Monster-4, I haven't read through all 27 pages but I'm curious how the red head box has held up. Also, are you running a lift and bigger tires or all stock?

I am running slightly larger tires 285 vs 265 stock but no lift. So far the steering box has zero slop and no leaks.
I am developing some slop in the steering but that is from the ball joint at the end of the drag link that attaches to the pitman arm. |
I know this is a old topic but I just wanted to say thanks for the write up. I just finished installing a red head gear box along with a steering pump and other parts. great write up. my steering feels tighter and more responsive than my 2000 f250 did new.
