It's pretty much the same shipping, I think the place is in WA so it would be cheaper for you than me. It's shipped large flat rate with USPS, so it can't be more than $17 or so to send your old one back. The whole process was pretty easy for me, and they even gave me a military discount. I would use them again. It's a nice box.

Seriously? That's good news. I'll have to rethink this. I'm injured, but maybe it would be worth the pain and aggravation.

I've had one reman from the Oreillys store that got sloppy in about 16 months...After that aggravation I got a redhead...that was 10 years ago and it is still perfectly tight....I got a newer van and did the same replacement with a redhead....The difference between the worn out originals, reman and what redhead does is significant in my experience.....

I am local to them and have been in their plant (no shipping but sales tax)...they do a LOT of boxes a month and are pretty proud of their work....

2003 2WD. Lifted. The only good thing about the probelms the lift causes is I don't have to jack it up.

Getting that big arm off was a chore. Bent two pullers. Had to pry and pull to remove it. tightening the nut had me twisting on the ground beneath the beast. I now have a C6-7 disc injury that causes neck pain in situations like that. Working on my back is now involves major thought.

But, maybe y'all can offer some advice on getting things manipulated a bit easier.

02 2wd Wow OK, caught me off guard on that one.

I have an 05 4wd and my Red Head feels like there is little power assist. Your box will not be the same , and the guys with 99 to 04 4wd trucks really like there Red head.

When I did mine I took the box off with the arm still on.

Also replaced lower steering shaft with Borgeson with vibration damper and found out that the drag link wasn't right so I put a drop down drag link fit like a glove 1977 f250 XLT RANGER 4inch lift 35 inch with high performance 390 Fe

thxs just crawled from under nieth thetruck to find out I need to order shocks not to many make for this year w/a four inch lift was trying to get bilsteins but they don't go that far back ended up going with skyjacker nitro 8000

Monster-4, I haven't read through all 27 pages but I'm curious how the red head box has held up. Also, are you running a lift and bigger tires or all stock?

I am running slightly larger tires 285 vs 265 stock but no lift. So far the steering box has zero slop and no leaks.

I am developing some slop in the steering but that is from the ball joint at the end of the drag link that attaches to the pitman arm.

I know this is a old topic but I just wanted to say thanks for the write up. I just finished installing a red head gear box along with a steering pump and other parts. great write up. my steering feels tighter and more responsive than my 2000 f250 did new.
