Front axle gear oil change?

I have a 1994 F150 302 4x4 with a Dana 44 front axle, I think. I don't see a drain plug, only a fill plug and no cover like the rear. Do I need a hand pump to extract the fluid? Is that the correct way to do it?

Suction--Thats the way most "quick lubes" would do it. You can save yourself the mess and hassel by taking it to one of those places. they usually charge between 10 and 15 bucks. If are a rea DIY guy then the best way to do it is to pull the cover and then clean out the inside with a can of break cleaner. Replace the cover using silicone black for the gasket and refill up to the bottom of the fill hole with GL-5 gear lube.

Front axle gear oil change?

My rear diff has a cover, but the front does not. I'm used to doing the rears that have covers, but not one without. Just have to use a hand pump, huh?
