Down at Carteret County right now. Me and my brother are heading to Portsmouth Island on an over-nighter fishing trip.......Taking the ferry over at 1200pm tomorrow (Friday).......Fishing all day and all night.....Coming back on the Saturday morning 945am ferry....We'll see if we can score some red drum and whiting. Got the cooler full of beer and crap, and the rods are ready to go. Easy trip....Just the pickup.....no sleeping arrangements necessary. Might take turns catnapping with the seats back or something, but basically just a one-day, all-out fishing assault!

Got some fresh shrimp, the cast net, 2 large rods set with drum rigs.....2 medium rods set with double-hook bottom rigs.....One small/medium rod for whatever.........

Hopefully I'll have some fish-tales to tell.......:-drink

Remember, CMPD the fairly new coastal fishing license requirement. And good fishing.

Get mine every April......:-X22

I get the comp-fishing license every April 1 just in time for my annual trip to Cheoah near Fontana........I just have them tack on the CFL when I do that.....

I grew up out this way. I followed the fight over NC having a CFL for years.....They finally got smart and did it.

I'm pretty sure at least some of that money was used to refurbish and expand the public boat launch/marina off of west Beaufort Rd in Beaufort......Nice digs, although they need to expand the parking a little bit.....:)

I was fortunate to have a lifetime fishing license before the coastal requirement. I am grandfathered on the coastal license. Have a great fishing trip.

Not really a 'slammer' of a trip......

Came home with just enough for a fish fry.....One nice black drum...a Sheepshead....3 nice 2-lb bluefish......Threw back a bunch of 11" to 13" flounder and some more bluefish.....Landed a chopper blue (30"....about 8-lb) and threw him back.....Lost a couple of black drum because they hit the lines that had those 'collee' hooks on them (had them rigged to catch whiting....but they were a no-show).....

Oh well. The bugs weren't too bad. Fished from about 2:30pm yesterday until just before midnight......Slept a few hours in the cab of the truck.....Got up before dawn and fished until 9am......

It was a new moon (or nearly....about 3%)....That MIGHT have had something to do with the lack of fish hitting during the night......

You got enough for a fish fry, that's good!!
