Senate Bill SB842 Castle Doctrine -

Castle Doctrine Self-Defense Bill Introduced in the Keystone State!

Please Contact the Members of the Senate Judiciary Committee Today!

State Senator Richard Alloway (R-33) has introduced critical self-defense reform legislation (Senate Bill 842) to protect the rights of law-abiding gun owners in Pennsylvania. This Castle Doctrine self-defense bill has been referred to the Senate Judiciary Committee.

SB842 would
permit law-abiding citizens to use force, including deadly force, against an attacker in their homes and any places outside of their home where they have a legal right to be. It is clearly stated that there would be no “duty to retreat” from an attacker, allowing law-abiding citizens to stand their ground to protect themselves and their family. SB842 would also protect individuals from civil lawsuits by the attacker or the attacker’s family when force is used.
Please contact the members of the Senate Judiciary Committee TODAY and respectfully urge them to support SB842. Contact information for the committee can be found here.

Thomas Jefferson: “The laws that forbid the carrying of arms are laws of such a nature. They disarm only those who are neither inclined nor determined to commit crimes....Such laws make things worse for the assaulted and better for the assailants; they serve rather to encourage than to prevent homicides, for an unarmed man may be attacked with greater confidence than an armed man. Thomas Jefferson’s “Commonplace Book,” 1774-1776, quoting 18th century criminologist Cesare Beccaria in Chapter 40 of “On Crimes and Punishment”, 1764.

My message has been posted to my Senators home page.

I reserve the right to severely discipline you if you are on my property and touching anything that does not belong to you. Big bang if your trying to get in, other wise a little slicing and dicing or batting practice if your just roaming where you don't belong. Some times it's better to let them sit in a chair and slobber for a long period of time while they reflect on their wrong doings.

Indeed good to hear. I have passed this on to some of my friends as well.

Alchymist - your Jefferson quote is timely...because the one that ran through my head was much simpler: "If guns are outlawed, only outlaws will have guns."

Has anyone heard if this passed?

Haven't heard anything. Still in committee would be my guess.
