seat armrest removal
ok quick question how to you remove the armrest/storage of the 93 model driver seat?
Thanks, yonu |
Remove as much of the cover on the armrest as you can. On the right side of the foam, near the back of the armrest you will find a hole. You will need a long extension and a star socket (I'm not sure of the size). The bolt has right hand threads and is in tight. You may have to work at it to get it loose but be patient with it.
Good luck. |
then I take it there is not a simple way to do it as I intend to reinstall?
as i am mainly after getting the liner out of it |
The cover has a zipper along the side, so getting it removed enough to get to the bolt hole is not a problem. I've removed mine but did not reinstall. I would think reinstalling the arm rest should be fairly simple and straight forward. All you need to do is follow the removal steps in reverse.

ok no luck mine doesn't have a zipper on it

Sorry about that, mine did. Question: You mentioned "armrest/storage." Does that mean there is a storage compartment in the arm rest? Also, what kind of covering does the armrest have? Mine has a steel core with a block of foam molded around it and has a fabric cover that matches the seat upholstery. How does that compare to what you have.
As I think about it more, your '93 is one generation newer than my '91. Hopefully someone else will come along and help you out. |
the one on mine is a fabric covered storage compartment that doubles as an armrest/seatback for center seat
|
We are talking about a Ranger, aren't we?
|
yeap 93 reg cab xlt
|
I have the same. It is a center console that has one wide arm rest that lifts up for storage. I took a quick look at mine but I needed extra light to see how it comes off. As it is about to storm here I'll have to wait.

Im pretty sure you have the same one that I have in my ranger. You need to open the door and look on the inside there will be a little acsess panel in the middle pop it off and you will see the head of the bolt (that is what holds it on and is the pivot point. IIRC it is a torx drive (bigger one maybe T50)

I used a pocket knife to get under the edge and pry it off,
