Oil Level Sensor

Does the aftermarket like NAPA, CarQuest, etc sell the Low Oil Level Sensor for the 2.9L BII? Or is this a Ford stealer item only?

Last I recall, you had to buy the oil pan with the sensor. I have no idea if anyone, even the stealership sells them anymore. I can't seem to find a listing on any of my usual resources. Dare I ask why you're looking for one?

I have to replace the starter, the sensor has been leaking for a while and it's there in the open with the starter removed. I run Amsoil synthetic and could leak out very fast once the gasket/sensor completely fails.

I ordered one from my local Ford dealer today.

Yeah, I have to take a look at mine when I get back home. I figure if it'll make it until the next full oil change (I am running Amsoil now as well, and the advertised 25k / 1 year between full oil changes might be entertaining...) before it's leaking bad enough to worry about, that will work. I may order the sensor and keep it handy just in case. On another semi-related note, mine still has the original starter (unless the original owner or previous owner replaced it with Genuine Motorcraft parts) and solenoid (maybe on the latter). Only thing I have had to do with it is replace bushings, brushes, and drive gear and bolt it back in place a little more securely with some locktite. The bolts had backed out on it for some reason (probably after it had been removed and reinstalled to facilitate tightening of the oil pan bolts by the previous owner) and the drive gear got munched. Flywheel is still pretty much okay, heh.

Correction on my first post. The replacement oil pans that I saw listed a while back had listings for one with and one without the sensor hole. Thanks for the part # Bill, I'll check back here when it comes time to order one :)
