Ford flatbed plans, finally!
 

I've told a few members that I have been working on detailed drawings of a Ford script flatbed. I started this drawing about a year or more ago but I haven't had the time to finish it. Thanks to our current economic situation I have a little more time on my hands. This drawing might not be exact, and I'm sure it has some mistakes that I will find and repair. I'll post revisions as I do them.

I have a very complete bed on my F-4 and I've tried to do a detailed drawing of the bed. This is for a 9 foot bed but you can adjust it for a 8 and 12 foot bed. I'll post some line drawings from the Ford literature I have to give you an idea of sizes of the beds offered.

That's awesome, Bob! I'll try out your measurements on mine....I mean for reference, so that I can put mine together.

I just noticed one mistake, I have the amount listed for the wooden beam as 4, you need 2. I can change it fairly easy on the AutoCAD file but the .pdf file is a pain. Also, the .pdf file has a blank page at the end. I'll have to scan a new file in when I get a chance.

If you select Acrobat PDF writer as your printer, it will save the Acad Dwg as a pdf. Real simple, no scanning required.

I don't have Acrobat, I just have the reader. The .pdf program that came with my scanner does a crappy job. I tried using it first and it came out too fuzzy to read. I'll try playing with it to see if I can make it work better.

I posted this also on the Ford Barn site and got a response from a guy there who posted a link to Autodesk's free Trueview program so you can bring up the .dwg drawing. The .dwg version is the best to use. You can zoom in and copy parts of the drawing.

This just proves that it takes a lot of skill and attention to detail to keep these old trucks stock. Darksiders like me have it easy, we can slap any old thing together and get away with it.

Any photos to go along?

I'll try to post a few tomorrow. It kind of hard to take any good pictures because the bed still has all of the wood on it. I crawled under, over it, to get the dimensions of the metal pieces.

If you update, I can easily convert it to pdf for everybody.
just send me a msg or e-mail it to me as I haven't had much time to come to FTE lately.

I'm working on drawing all of the hardware. I'll do my best to list everything. I figured I'd throw the main part of the bed first if someone wanted to start on one.

I updated the page, a little, with a few parts drawings. It actually takes a little time to do CAD drawing if you're not real proficient in doing them. I also added a few drawings from some sales literature to help, I hope, clarify the measurements for the different size beds for the different models. I am still working on updating and adding to the drawing so check back every so often.

I haven't had a chance to redo the .pdf file yet, it's easier to update the CAD file. I'll probably wait to update the .pdf file when I finish the entire drawing.
