F-100 is dead

According to an article in the newest Truck trend, the F-100 is a dead issue. However, in another article in the same truck trend, there are two new smaller trucks in the pipeline.

Should be interesting.

This article in Truck Trend talks about the two smaller trucks in the pipeline, and the larger of the two IS the F-100:

Ford Plans Two Sub-F-150 Pickups - Auto News - Truck Trend

There is no date on the article, however, so something could be old news.

Sounds like its not dead to me...

rangerfan 03-25-2009 09:02 PM

It's dead. It's been talked about in the Ranger Forums for quite a while now.

Is there any *real* news?

Seems like all we get are on again/off again rumors on the F100. Is there a solid press release from Ford, or a bonafide internal information source that really says the F-100 is cancelled?

Given that it's supposed to be based on the F-150, it seems that it may not cost that much for Ford to develop, even if only as a contingency plan which would become instantly relevant if we see $4 gas again.

Yes but the first article says the F-100 is dead. And yes, there are two smaller trucks in the pipeline but not called the F-100 according to the article. So, I guess one could say it's not dead.

I would like to see a larger ranger/ smaller f150, I think with a fuel effecient engine it would be a decent seller, my biggest gripe with the ranger is the lack of rear passenger room in the extended cab, basicaly a storage compartment.

The F-100 production has come and gone. You can't repaint the mona lisa. You guys want one you'll have to get an old one and breath life back into it.

What killed it was price. It would have been the same as the F150.

It will be interesting to see, General Motors is in severe trouble, the Chrysler corporation is in even worse shape. I have been a Ford guy as long as I can remember, but it would be a real shame to loose either GM or Chrysler. I hate to say it but I think Chrysler is not going to make it, unless Fiat is willing to pour massive amounts of money into the company....

I respectfully disagree sir. Dodge is in trouble, but t he truck segment will always be there. Someone will pick it up and make them profitable again.

Ford needs viable competition breathing down they're backs. It's what gets us a better truck.
