I got one 1/4 in drive metric socket that fit fine, at Auto Zone for about $2.50

They do make special tools for aiming head lights. I used them when I used to work at a Ford dealership. A cheaper way though is to pull up to a closed garage door at night with the headlights on and line them up with the door so they are even. Don't get them too high though.

For adjusting the height with the rod that sticks up, I use a small pair of visegrips. Don't put them too tight though. Its worked fine for me.

I think it is a 12 point. My regular metric sockets are 6 and they would not fit, so I'm assuming it was 12.
The clerk let me run out and try it for fit before I paid for it.

I couldn't find a socket that would fit the rod.
