Need help decoding this tranny id number
 

It didnt have a tag but this is what I found
On CASE- RF-F2VP-7006-AC
On Tailshaft- RF-F2TP-7A040-AA
And on the bottom of the pan it said METRIC
Im tryin to find out what it came out of and what kinda tranny is it. Thanks for the help

F2T = 1992 Truck. Should be an AOD-E.

F2VP-7006-AC = E9AZ7005A

Application: 1989/93 Lincoln Town Car/Crown Vic/Mercury Grand Marquis/F150/250/Bronco/Econoline.

I could not find the cross reference for this Ford truck ID number: F2TP-7A040AA to the actual Ford part number.

There are three different extension housings used 1981/93 on AOD's as installed in Bronco's, F150/250's and Econolines.

One was strictly used with 4WD.

With ID numbers from 1992 (F2), and a non passenger car extension housing, you have a 1992/93 AOD from a truck, Bronco, or Econoline.

AOD = 14 Transmission Pan Bolt Holes.

thanks numberdummy does anyone know when ford started putting 4 intermidiate clutches in the 4r70w thanks.

Your location says Nashville TN but your state says NC on your profile ..... where ya at? I have a 2000 4R70W with 43K miles on it if you're interested. It's a short tailshaft model from a P71 (4.6L). Doesn't look like I'm going to need it anytime in the near future. PM me if interested.

Im from NC but go to school in Tn. Does anybody know if there is a difference in the internals of a v6 and v8 4r70w transmission.

Just the number of clutches in the forward clutch pack depending on the year of the trans.

Alright im doin a conversion of putting the 4r70w geartrain in an AOD to pick up the lower 1st and 2nd gears. I need the model with the 4 intermidiate clutches for added strength. Talking on the behalf of crown vics which are plentiful, how new do I need to go so that the tranny contains 4 clutches. I know where a 2000 and a 2001 vics are but will the older models have 4 or do these even have 4? All this is being built to go behind a 428 in my pickup. But as far as foward clutches im not using it anyway in the swap so that doesnt matter if thats the only difference in the v6 v8 models.

I've had apart '96-'03 models,and they all have 4 Intermediates. What you really need is a '98-up model intermediate,and reverse drum with the mechanical diode one-way clutch. The roller-type one way clutch is a sure-fail item,and was used until '98-after that they all got the mechanical diode one way clutch. One thing that may help you out a bit....Go read the following article:
