My family rides, We have 10 sleds all together, mostly ride the northwoods of WI, but we did make it out to yellowstone a few years ago. Been riding (on trails) since 1996

Boy oh boy do I want a sled right now...We just got a foot of fresh here in Anaconda, MT and I don't have work for two weeks!
What to buy, what to buy...?

i live in pa and just sold my sleds they were old though but man where they fun i had a 1990 indy 400 that i put on bigger carbs i bought at a car show/swap meet for a dirtbike, rigged up a dirtbike muffler (i can weld) and put studs in the track, it would beat my friend's 500 skidoo i forget what type but it was either a mxz or a mach z my dad had a indy 440 that my sled would run circles around...it was fun growing up riding sleds but i'm 20 now and in college so i'm never home to ride in the winter (except for this winter i had to miss a semester because of surgery) and i live in pa about an hour outside of philly so we don't get enough snow to jusify me keeping the sleds but like i said it was a bunch of fun growing up riding sleds since i live in farm country and have a farm so you can just hop on your sled and ride for hours no trailering them somewhere to ride

Some Pics of my new ride. Rode it all last year, but never thought to post pics.

08 800 Summit X 154" - Money is tight right now, so all it has is vents, mbrp can, quick clickers, clicker front shocks with TI springs, and custom valved skid shocks.

I am in the process of tearing the motor down to check on its condition and am planning on modding the airbox to help it breath in the deep.

I see you have one of those sled beds in the back of your truck, How do you like those?

J_E_Summit 09-28-2010 05:53 PM

It is the only way to go into the mountains. Most of our parking areas are very small (often just a wide spot on a one lane forestry road) and sometimes crowded. We try to haul two sleds per truck to minimize the parking area that we need, plus it allows us turn around in tight areas.

Other bennifits include better milage, and more traction when there is 2' of snow on the road.

I built my deck myself.

That looks really good, I have been thinking about getting one because I don't have the storage space for a trailer I just wasn't sure about how easy the are to load and unload.

J_E_Summit 09-28-2010 06:05 PM

I intentionaly made mine heavy (600lbs) so that I would have weight when unloaded, but I use the tractor to take it off (just lift it up and then drive out from under it), so weight is not a big deal for me.

You can see more pics of it at:
