Diablo chip install on 2002 L

[updated:LAST EDITED ON 29-Jun-02 AT 10:57 AM (EST)]I put the chip in last night and went for a short drive. First thing i noticed after starting the engine for the (first time after the install) was the throttle bumped up rpms a lot faster with no "pause" as it was before. With the chip 1st to second shift is way better and 2nd to 3rd is really a lot better. I bet the tranny will last longer and run cooler also. Definately a good buy and the install was easy. I bet i picked up some quicker et's also as the shift pattern is definately m u c h faster.

"Diablo sport chip" Is all i know. I wasnt aware of them having different chips. This is the "39 horsepower" chip. Yeah i like it a lot, it really did make a big difference. I am looking at doing a 4 lb pulley install (lower) so i will have to send it back for a reburn soon. Other than that im not sure what else i will be doing. longtubes + basanni are to expensive, nitrus is probably out. Any suggestions??

Suggestions? Sure, Bassani Cat Back Exhaust (will worth it!!) and the K&N Filter replacement ( best $40 you'll ever spend). I'm waiting on the Diablo Delta chip which should net me 50 hp plus. That's about it for now, just enjoy ! Oh, what's a longhorn?

Later, off to Hollister on the Harley .. :-X22

The Delta isn't going to give you any more horse power than the standard chip. The code programmed into it is the same as the code programmed into the standard 1 bank and 4 bank chips. The difference is the Delta can hold two programs plus stock.

We've been shipping Delta chips for about a month (before anyone else had them) so there's no need to wait, just click the Online Store link on the top-right of the screen.

Longtube headers .. apparently there are two types . One type are "shorties" Kind of like what is on the truck now. The other type has longer tubes that extend much further under the truck. I have heard if you have the 4 lb (or more) pully you can really benifit from the header upgrade. The engine is actually restricted by the stock exhaust. But total package is around $2000. Thats not cheap.

WOW! Longtube huh, who makes it? Not that I'm in the market right now but maybe in the future. $2000 is pricey. How much for labor or would you do the install yourself? Oh, any HP figures on the exhaust / pully (4lb) upgrade? Aren't these trucks fun...

Ditto on the pulley. I'd recommend 4lbs. 6 is a little extreme for the street. Mention the pulley when getting the chip and it can be coded for the pulley, giving you even more HP.

I will have to get back to you on the longtube headers. One guy in my club has all the info. As soon as i hear from him i will post.

I was talking to some guy from XXXXXXXXXXXX and he was trying to convince me to buy the 8lb pulley with the diablo sport chip. He told me that I wouldnt lose any drivablity. He also said that the 8lb pulley really only gives 5-6lbs and only if I were to shift at 5800 rpms will I actually get 8lbs. Is this true?

An 8lb pulley, IMHO, is too much for street use. I don't recommend over 4lbs.

Some dealers will try to convince diesel owners that 125HP chips are fine but those dealers aren't the one's forking out the dough when something breaks from the heat. Don't let high horsepower numbers tantalize you into breaking your truck. There's a good reason why we don't chip many vehicles over 6 lbs (90% of the Lightnings with pulleys we chip use 4lb pulleys).
