Internet connection

Ok how are you guys connected to the internet. Im on this slow dialup which sucks but is cheap. $15.00 a month. How about the rest off you guys? Especially the country folk. Do you guys have high speed. I dont know what options are available just trying to get some input. Thanks for the help in advance guys.:-drink:-X25

I get high speed internet from the local cable company. I don't think I could put up with dial up. I get a package deal, it's something like $65 for internet and extended basic cable. If you have good cell service where you live, you might be able to get higher speeds through using a modem/card from the cell comany, but it's going to cost quite a bit more than dial up.

I also have High speed through my cable company.

Cable internet here, love it,been there and done dial-up and it sucks

RedUgly77 02-23-2009 11:01 AM

dial-up is dead! I have DSL in small town Nebraska.
I would look into the cell phone internet, prices are going down. Or if you have dish network or a sat co. like that, i know they offer high speed as well.

I used cell phone internet for my laptop when I drove truck for a living, if you go that route you need to make sure you have a very good signal. Otherwise you wont see any improvement from dial up. I have cable internet at the house here. I use to have DSL years ago but there were to many issues with the phone company.

Depending on how far you live from town, you may also be able to get wireless. You have to have line of site to the receiver (generally on a water tower). I live 6 miles from town and it works great for me. DSL and cable are not available, and satelite/cell service is not a good option (speeds and price). I work from home as a software developer, so I need the high speed.

Here is what I have: Diode Communications

You might check with your local cable company to see if they offer something like this.

Thanks I will look in to it. Im not to far from my town either might be an option.

In Hastings I just go through the cable company. At home we go through Great Plains Communications for our high speed needs. We were dial-up until 3 or 4 years ago. I've thought about going through the cell phone company for internet when I move up to the Columbus area (possibily living in BFE by Genoa - so I don't know if I could get anything else) but it's pretty $$ per month compared to my cable company.
