Changing Oil in Edge

For all the DIYers I have a quick question. We just purchased an 08 Edge SEL AWD and I always do the maintenance on our vehicles but was curious if the edge has a oil drain plug or if you drain by pulling oil filter. The main reservoir leads to the filter and I did not see a drain plug in the area but I only looked under there for a few seconds as we will not need an oil change for a while. Thanks

The (oil pan) drain plug points to the rear of the vehicle. It is a "normal" set up as far as draining goes. The oil filter is near vertical so you can fill it before you install it, which helps build oil pressure fast after the change.

I bought a Fumoto valve for mine. I can drain by flipping a lever now.

Watch out for the hot exhaust pipe that runs right by that drain plug!!

I've changed our oil 3 times now and it is a snap. :-jammin

I don't have an Edge, but my Taurus X has the same engine. The plug is at the very back edge of the engine like Brad said right between the exhaust pipes. I have a Fumoto for mine also which makes changing a breeze. I recommend getting a filter wrench the goes on the end of the filter so you can ratchet the filter off. I ended up going to NAPA to get one for my car. Holy cow they put those on tight at the factory!
