1997 F150 4.6 exhaust manifold repair
 

Guy's I just orderd from Advance a new exhaust manifold(right ride) for my son's 97 4.6..I got all the studs out by the way even the broken ones.My question is 1.Im going back with oem type studs since it's mixed about the s/s versus regular studs do you recomend antiseizeing them? 2.what is the torque I should apply to the naked stud and the nut when the manifold is in place.3. would you place a s/s washer under the nut's? Thanks guy's in advance.

How do you remove exhaust manifold bolts on 4.6L
 

I blew a hole on the right exhaust manifold. Can you tell me how you removed the bolts. I would like to tackle the job myself but would like to talk to someome who has done it already.

If the nuts are still on the bolts get a socket preferably a 12 point and you may have to tap it on the nut with a hammer..Either way "Tap" the end of the studs that will help unseat them and make them turn out.Chances are the stud will come out with the nut which will be better anyway..After you do this and have themanifold off if you have studs left in the head tap the ened of the stud with a hammer I used a craftsman "bolt out" which is sold at Advance auto as well under the Irwin brand...Hope this helped..We did my sons 97 and my friends 2004 on the same day same side"passenger"...I hope yours is on the drivers side youll have more room to work..I also took off the tire and put a jack stand under the frame for safety..It's not that tough of job if your mechanically inclined.
