rockauto flywheel

I saw that rockauto.com had a flywheel for my 1950 ford F1 for under 60.00. here is the part number SACHS Part # NFW1102. I did a few searchs and found that this flywheel suppose to fit for pickups up to the 80s. Which is kinda odd. I would like to order one but I'm not for sure if this is the correct flywheel even though the website says it is.

239 flat 8

You need a flywheel specific to the 239 Flathead. made between 48-54 Trucks or 49-54 Cars.

The rockauto catalogue shows for this flywheel to fit my pickup. My question is if anyone has bought this flywheel and seen it for them selves to verify that it is the correct flywheel. The website does not have a detailed description of the flywheel.

Here is the list that the flywheel fits:

It just can't be! There is no way the same flywheel is used on all those as on a flathead. It must be a mistake in their electronic catalog. It may be that a 239 Y-block flywheel fits all those, but I would be surprised. Another possibility is that the P/N just causes their system to look up the application in another system.

If you need a flywheel, there are plenty around used and in good condition, but make sure you get an 8BA style, see below.

Obviously, shipping is a big part of the cost. They go for $10 at swap meets. Where are you?

4tl8ford 12-27-2008 11:32 AM

Look at a few other parts suppliers, you will see 10 - 15 different flywheels listed for that same time period for the different engines used.
This ain't no One Monkey Deal.

have ya considered getting it resurfaced? (I suppose that is if you have the old one)

=======================
8RC-6375 .. Flywheel / 112 Tooth Ring Gear / Use with 10" Clutch.

==========================================
8RT-6375 .. Flywheel / 112 Tooth Ring Gear: / Use with 11" Clutch / Fits 1948/53 trucks.

There is absolutely no way = NONE that this flywheel is the same as any of the following.

There were 9 different 1977/96 Bronco & F100/350 flywheels.

There were 8 different 1977/90 Econoline flywheels.

NONE are the same as 8BA, 8RC or 8RT-6375.

And....not one of these 1977 and later flywheels has a 112 tooth ring gear, either =

8BA-6384 .. 112 Tooth Ring Gear / Use with: 8BA, 8RC & 8RT Flywheels.

Obsolete parts vendor Green Sales Co. in Cincinnati OH has FIVE: 800-543-4959.

No Ford dealer or obsolete parts vendor has any of the "239" flywheels.

ive only been able to find flywheels at some of our advertisers and speedway and the hotrod co. none of 'em as far as the parts houses for flattys , and they have to know the year displacement , etc. for everything else due to i geuss fords penchant for changing balancing , firing order or something:confused: ????????????? maybe they got the y block 239 mixed up somehow ?????? then again been to rockauto and a couple others and they showed nothing for my truck that i needed or in one case of a national parts dealers website , who shall remain nameless , they told me ford didnt put flatheads in 53 trucks ................:-huh i geuss none of you , ford or i know anything anyways huh ????:)
