Christmas traditions

Ok seeing we are just a few days from the big day, Christmas, I was thinking, what are some of the traditions your families celebrate??

Growing up we always had a fish dinner Christmas Eve. Being Italian most everyone did that one.. Then everyone came over for Christmas dinner the next day..

When we had kids I always put the cookies and milk out and I would also write a letter from Santa to the kids.. Then we would read it Christmas morning to them.. Not sure if they liked it, but I still have everyone that they can read again someday..

Don...you sentimental old fool you!!!

Our family always celebrated Christmas Day with a huge family gathering at my folks house...generally 20+ people. My mother would slave over a hot stove the day before preparing deserts...and then get up at about 2 in the morning on Christmas Day to prepare the turkey dinner.

On Christmas Morning all the kids...there were 6 of us...were allowed to open one gift before the big gift opening. My father managed a small supermarket and had to work every Christmas Day until noon...he worked so his employees could enjoy the time with their families. As soon as he came home...he passed out the gifts...wrapping paper and bows flying all over the place.

The final two gifts were for my mother...from my father. The first one was some sort of practical household thing...like a sewing machine...or new refrigerator...and the second one was the payment book!!! I know...I know...not very romantic...but always needed and appreciated!!!

We would always have most of the family and friends over for christmas dinner. But since my brothers and I have to work on christmas eve and christmas day we cant enjoy the family gathering like we used to.
