KOOK of the DAY!!

One of America's most recognizable icons is the Pillsbury Doughboy, symbol of the Pillsbury flour-milling company. The company was founded in 1872 by Charles Alfred Pillsbury, born on this date in 1842, and his uncle, John Sargent Pillsbury. The Pillsbury Doughboy, whose name is Poppin' Fresh, first popped up in ads in 1965. At the end of the commercials a finger would gently poke the figure — which was apparently made of dough — in the stomach, and he would give out a soft, high-pitched giggle. Poppin' Fresh's giggle was originally voiced by Paul Frees, the voice of Rocky and Bullwinkle's Boris Badenov.

"Nothin' says lovin' like somethin' from the oven."
