Transporting gun
So how do all you gun loving Cali residents transport your guns? and how do you if you do keep your amo apart from the gun?
(steve i made this a thread just to have more threads start in the chapter for ya) |
Not really an issue for pickup trucks. But for rifles, if I put one in the cab with me, the ammo is in the back. You are not required to lock a case with a rifle in it.
Handguns are different. Must be in a locked box if in the passenger compartment. |
have you ever gotten pulled over with the rifle in the cab with you?

I would love to go cruising with Russ. Maybe West Hollywood during a prop 8 rally. |

Unfortunately the truck I was driving sort of matched the one that was used by a guy who had left his house after pounding on his wife for a bit. I had 2 of my 22's, a pistol, a revolver and a couple of shotguns - myself and a buddy were on our way out to the desert. We got pulled over by the CHP out in Banning. They didn't fret about the guns - after they determined that neither of us were the perp. I think I aged a few years that night. |

Not in CA. Except by F&G, and then it was a given.

Be sure to study this Brady. It's a PDF file, but only 4 pages.

What is your concern? Are you just heading to the range or inquiring about packing? I'm a long time firearms enthusiast, weapons and tactics trainer, and have been pulled over.

I just throw the ammo in the back of the bed, rifles and hand guns in the cab no lock no nothing. Never worried about it/

You will have the pistol confiscated, and you may go to jail. You prolly will have the rifles confiscated also, and you'll have to show proof of ownership to get all the firearms returned. CA DOJ regulation: ALL handguns must be in a locked case. Is all this scheiss worth the trouble? A lockable pistol case is 15 bucks or so. I use a plastic rifle case, with a long shanked padlock, so both rifles and pistolas are locked up. |
does having a trigger lock on the pistol count? i travel with everything in the cab of the truck but in the back seats. all guns have trigger locks on them and are in cases, none of the cases are locked, guns are on the seat ammo on the floor, idk if thats how it should be done but thats how i do it, never been pulled over

The CA DOJ (Department of Justice) has certain laws governing firearms that usurp BATF regs. |
