Adjusting the setting for the auto headlights

I was wondering if there is an adjustment for when the headlights come on at dark. I would like to adjust mine if possible to come on a little bit sooner. 2004 navigator

I don't know on your 2004, but on the 98 expy there is what looks like an adjustment on the sensor that controls the sensitivity.

I believe it's the black "bubble" that houses the blinking red light up on the dash. I'm not sure it's adjustable though. You could always buy some window tint and put inside the cover, start with a high % tint and work down till you find what your looking for, so the sensor thinks it's darker than it actually is.

Just put some black electrical tape over 1/2 the sensor.

wouldn't it just be easier to turn the lights on manually?

yeah, but I like the autolamp-feature which keeps the lights on after you turned the ignition off and leave the car
(and you do not have the lights on warning chime when you leave the car)

so i prefer the autolamp setting, but i would like to have the lights coming on earlier at dusk

does that sensor have any influence to EATC (auto air cond) as in other cars? (sensing sun rays , to blow more cold air before the temp raises, you know what i mean?)

is there a way to have the fog lamps turn on with teh auto setting??? 2000 exp eb

It wasn't possible on my '99, but is on my 2003 and 2004. I imagine your 2000 is like the 99 and that there was a gate in the switch that prevented you from pulling out the knob when in the auto mode. I had suggested elsewhere that maybe it would be as easy as chaging the headlight switch for the newer one without the gate but nobody looked it up as far as I know.

i was thinking of rewiring the foglight relay to be powered by the parking lamps being turned on but if i use the switch in manual i dont know if the switch would let me turn them off when just the parking lamps are on?

The "newer" switch lets you do that combination also.
