Leaves 2008?
 

I ended up on Cheat Mountain this evening with camera and snapped a few pics. Last two pics I took at work, leaves aren't as colorful there yet.

Is that a fire stick in front of the windshield? I'm still trying to figure out where to mount a CB antenna on mine.

I have been working enough that I can't remember anything.

Well I did find my way home a while ago, so I guess I can remember a few things.

I used to crunch numbers for SETI before they went BOINC.

Yeah, I started there in 2001 right out of college. It is a really cool place to work. I was a co-op student there when SETI used to use the 140 foot(the one in the distance in my last pic, for those who don't know). That's pretty cool you used to crunch numbers for them.

Now I can ask you the question people ask me sometimes.... "So, did you end up finding any aliens? You can tell me, I won't tell" LOL.

I detailed some of the steel that went in to rebuilding the one that fell. I can't remember the nickname of the one I worked with.

Darn if I know, I ran Seti @ home on my home network (8 computers) for five years or so, I was one of the top crunchers for WV for the last year or so.

Brooke County School system was the top cruncher for the state at the time.

The way BOINC was set up when it first can out, there was no way I was going to run it on my computers.
No way to control when the program updated, so you would never know when you were going to have a computer crash from a conflict.

ahhhh yeah... I remember seti @ home. I forgot about that program. Very cool.

Paul -- Did you work up here on site during construction?

Yeah I have a wall full of certificates from Berkley and the Planetary Society for all the data I crunched for them.

I can't remember for sure, I was somewhere aroud 47,000 work units and 7 or 8 years of computer time when the program ended.

I am still using the dual processor P4 3000 with 2 gigs of ram that I built to smoke the work units out.

I had a P3 600 with 512 megs that did one every 7 hours.
The P4 3000 cranked 4 out every 35 minutes.

No. I was working at West Virginia Steel when the contractor needed some large plates and steel detailed and fabricated, for the base, if I remember right. I remember looking at the construction plans, there was alot of steel. That was a long time and many jobs ago.

That's pretty cool. Yeah, definitely alot of steel. 16 million pounds worth and that doesn't count the track :eek: Definitely a pretty neat structure.

Leaves here are done. Pretty much a sea of brown and green again. Next up is snow, supposedly next week.
