NEW CO Chapter roll-call!!!

Since it's so quiet here, I thought I'd start a roll-call so newbs get an idea of who might be lurking. LOL

My name is Mike. I live in Golden, I work on Rail-Road cars. Even though I have two Ford trucks, I wheel my wife's station wagon. I need to get my '74 on the road again...badly!

There is another Ford in my life: My employer just replaced the ol' shivee I've been trying to wear out. Now I'm trying to wear out this one and reeeeaaallly liking it:

poudre canyon here. we live up in the woods and my neighbor caught me the other morning working on my water pump in jammies- John, you are not alone! what is the turning radius of that couch anyway?

Colo79Ford 10-13-2008 11:02 PM

The couch turns sharper than the 79, but not as sharp as the 73... unless its on snow, then it does some killer donuts (with the help of friends):-drink

Ima Noob in Erie

Recently moved to CO from Nor Cal. My daughter brought her 1966 F100 longbed with her. Unfortunately, she doesn't have the resources to keep it in good running order. It's going to need jet adjustments per the rise in elevation not to mention some minor attention. It's running, but the lifters can be loud and will probably quiet down once the adjustments are made. Not finding many shops these days in this area who are willing to work on carburators. This sounds like minor work, but when you aren't working, it's pretty major.

This one has a Holly 4-barrel w/ a 1983-ish mustang 302 and tranny. Power steering was added when the steering wheel was modified to another version.

Is there a place in the Denver Metro area where owners of old F100's meet regularly for kicks and giggles?
Thanks.
Mary Beth

There are quite a few f-100 drivers in the denver area, but alot of them arent online... :-huh

The holley will probably need to be leaned out a few sizes... How much of an elevation change was it from where you moved, to where you live now? I think holley recommends jetting down 1 size for every 2000 feet above sea level, so assuming the carb was tuned correctly before, and you lived around sea level, you should only have to drop 3 jet sizes.... I might have some spare jets, depending on the sizes you need....

1966 F100

Hey, thanks for the reply.
The truck was located between Redding and San Francisco (0-800' above sea level) and ran fine until we descended a hill east of Elko, NV then the alternator gave out and we thought the engine was blown w/ all the noise. Turned out to be the alternator bearing, but the lifters are still loud. Had the carb tuned at Paris Tires in Northglenn, but then the truck couldn't get up to fwy speeds and they changed it back saying it probably won't pass emissions. They suggested we find a shop to work on the carb. Since I work for Boulder County, I spoke w/ the fleet mechanic and he also has a friend closer to Erie owning a shop that can work on it. Haven't had the $$ to do that yet. Thanks for the tips on the jetting.

Have seen more 1966 F100's in this state than we ever did in CA. Where do they meet?

Haven't stopped by here in a while. Thought I'd say hello.
Daily driver for the last 18 years has been my '71 F100. Did a new 390 in it in '90. Damn, now it's got a ton of miles on it. Became the work/haulin/movin truck. Worst part is the hyperfast rust that started showing up a few years ago. Seems this mag chloride stuff they switched to has just eaten my old girl up. Only minor rust for years, then it just took off. She's been a good old work horse though.

Made my car hobby a job and then opened my own shop a dozen years ago. I don't recommend it. Takes too much fun out of the hobby, if you even have time for the hobby any more. I barely even work on my own cars. Have sold some of 'em. True, I do get to work on and build some neat engines, but my stuff has been "on hold" for years now.......Of course the wife and kids were a bit of a distraction too:).

For those that have stopped in and become customers/friends, I thank you and appreciate getting to know you. The Ford community is a good one.

Just thought I'd say hello here. Moved down to CO from MT this last fall. We really like it down here so far. Lot more people:mad:, but more ways to make a living:)
