Cold weather ? & Winter Package on F350 Lariat? What is it?

Hoping that someone knows or has a URL for information on what actually is included with Ford's factory "winter package". I don't know if that's the official name for it but I've heard all kinds of things and before my truck freezes up this winter I want to find out. Basically I've heard the following:
  1. "It's the plug hangin out of the front of the truck"
  2. "If it has that then you're truck has everything it needs for cold weather. (My truck does have the plug)
  3. Someone also said that there's something else needed for the oil pan? Is this part of the same front end "plug" or different, or non sense?
Also, I've gotten a lot of different info / opinions on winter fuel needs for the 2007 Diesel.
  1. Use additives on every fill up
  2. Don't use additives for 07 and newer diesels as they don't need it

As I've just moved to Alaska and this is my first diesel, I'm kinda confused. Any helpful info would be appreciated.

I believe the winter package is the engine block heater (the plug), and now a grill cover to keep snow and cold out of the engine during cold weather operation.

The only additives I would use in cold weather is Ford / Motorcraft "cetane" booster and Anti-gel...

The Power Service brand additives are also very good.
