Good Deal? or Great Deal?

i have the oportunity to purchase a 2006 F250 SD XLT crew cab 4x4 with the 6.0 diesel for 17,900. The only thing is that the vehicle has 92,000 miles on it. Is this still a good deal? I can purchase a extra 100,000 mile or 7 year warranty on the motor for about $1,700. I don't know if i want to do it. Please let me know if this a good deal or great deal...

Thanks:confused:

It doesn't sound like a bad deal, but maybe some diesel guys can speak up for sure. Not a lot of demand for trucks these days so prices in general have come down. Also, be sure that warranty is from a reputable company. You don't want to have a hassle if you need to get repairs under warranty.

That sounds like a fair deal for an 06. I think they have most of the 6.0 issues resolved by that time.

While the mileage looks high, since it's a diesel it's probably just getting broke in. Plus if you have the time and resources you can make your own fuel...

7.3 which is a whole different animal its not uncommon to get 300,000 miles out of an engine.

They're a strong engine.... We have an old farm pickup with a 7.3, and well over 250,000 miles of abusive farm use on it... Had problems with the pump once, long time ago when it was still in warranty. Other then that, just the relay deal that runs the glow plugs replaced a couple times... Hard to find anything better to tow with!!!!!

Not sure on the price, way too new a pickup for me, I like mine old... Considering transplanting a 7.3 into an E-350 van next spring.... I like towing with a van, but hate dumping gas into them and not having enough power to do a lot of towing......

05 f350 crew long box v-10

Used my new truck last weekend to haul cows homw from grass. Borrowed a 24 ft. Aluminum trailer. When she was loaded I couldnt even tell anything was behind me. What a serious powerhouse. It is scary to think what a person could pull with one of these. Any of you have any experience with the v-10. BTW hi Fellow South Dakotans

Have a friend with a v-10 in his pickup, my Excursion has a lot more grunt and the v-10 is a gas guzzler with a load. It's a trade-off though, gas is $1.17 less per gallon than diesel, figure that?
