Where Can I Buy ELC Heavy Duty Diesel Coolant

Where can I buy ELC heavy duty diesel coolant concentrate? I called around a few places and could not find anyone selling concentrate. Hoping to find someone close to East Side or Seattle Area. If needed, I'll drive further.

Chevron Delo ELC
Rotella ELC
Others?

I'd be really surprised if Napa didn't have it-
If they didn't then Carquest for sure.

I called Napa and they only carried 50/50. The clerk didn't mention special ordering. Perhaps I'll need to push on them harder.

Prestone makes an Extended Life Coolant that mixes with any color antifreeze. Had some at the shop that we used in the Cat D-3. ELC is usually in stock in the parts stores in my neck of the woods, probably because there are so many logging, excavating and trucking outfits in the area. I'll keep an eye out for some. If I find some, want me to pick some up?

What's wrong with the green or gold coolant Motorcraft makes for our trucks? One of them is a long term dealyo. Or contact my buddy BoyerCustomTruck--Mr. Diesel Guru.

Nothing wrong with the green or gold. But here's an article from International. I have the T444E as mentioned. I'd like to switch to a coolant that does not require SCA.

Me too, same motor.

Adding a bit more info to my original request: I'm specifically looking for the Caterpillar EC-1 spec. The OAT coolant. Not the conventional SCA (green) coolant.

Ahhhh, Okay...... Scott! This one's for you.

I'm pretty sure that the Prestone ELC is approved by Cat - we got the green light from NC Machinery to put it in our dozer. My $0.02

I'm looking at the Prestone Heavy Duty ELC. On the container it says it meets CAT EC-1, yet the documentation on their website says:

"Check SCA concentration at scheduled preventative maintenance intervals to maintain optimal corrosion and cavitation protection. Add supplemental coolant additives when needed."

This product sounds like a HOAT (hybrid of organic acid and SCA).

This is the stuff your looking for
Prestone :: Products : Antifreeze/Coolant

and Carquest is the only one listed as having the concentrate.
CARQUEST Auto Parts - 3,400 auto parts stores throughout North America
and I belive carquest is a franchise outfit, you'll have to call them to make sure they'll have it in stock.

Unfortunately you need to test it every year even using the ELC. Somewhere I have the PH specs and I also have therefractometer for verifing the concentration. Unfortunately I'm on my way out of country again after only 2 days at home.

Any luck Snakejake?

snakyjake 10-25-2008 10:55 AM

I finally found four gallons of concentrate at Bryant Motors in Renton. They are also a International partsdealer. Might want to call first, to make sure they have stock. When I got mine, I got their only 4 gallons.
