good source for methanol and lye!!
 

I just bought 32# of lye half potassium half sodium and 110 gallons of methanol for $450.00. I called the local biodiesel solutions "Fuel Miester" dealer and he hooked me up. methanol for $195.00 a drum and $60.00 for 32# of lye either KOH or NaOH. I don't know about you guys but this is the best deal I've found for either.

$195 for methanol is a deal. I have been paying $200-$250 and have seen it as high as $400.

I buy NaOH, 100lbs at a time for $75, from univar.

Found a potential source of METHANOL in NEWARK, DE for FTE guys in NJ, MD, PA, and DE. A post on the BIODIESELNOW.COM website in the PA Forum mentioned the following:

HILLSIDE OIL CO. in Newark, DE (40 Brookhill Drive ?) sells methanol from the pump @ $2.50 GAL if you bring your own containers (BYOC).

I have NOT called them yet, but I'm sure the price changes up/down like everything else. Their phone number is 302-738-4144.

The PA Forum mentions several PA sources and the price at the time it was posted. Most of the posts were recent. Hope this helps :-X22.

the one problem with methanol from a pump is it has a tendacy to draw every ounce of water out of the air that it comes in contact with, at least thats been my experience. I keep 100% methanol in sealed drums so the only "air time" it gets is when I am inserting the draw tube for my diaphram pump. with that being said that's a great price for the stuff.
