Vin location
 

I am new here so if there is an old thread that I did not see sorry. Can any one tell me if there is a hidden vin and the location on 61-64 F-100.

Welcome to FTE

The VIN is on the Warranty Plate, and depending on the year, this plate is either located on the inside of the glove box door, or on the left door face below the latch.

It's also on the top of the passenger side frame rail just in front of the cab.

It may have been lightly stamped, so it'll be hard to make out. You'll prolly need a wire brush to clean off the usual rust and road grime.

It will also be stamped on the passenger rail under the cab. Some cleaning and a mirror will reveal it.

Thanks for the tips,I can see where plate was removed inside of the glove box door,and none on left door face below the latch.The DMV paper work shows f10jr260884 which I deciphered as :
F-100
223
built in San Jose in feb 62 , but this truck is not a integral body,was Ford producing non-unibody trucks in 62 ? what has me stumped on this truck is the lines from dorrs to bed do not line up ? I will look on the frame rail and try to see if vin matches what DMV has.

yes ford made non integeral trucks in 61-63 along with the unis...

the bed not lining up could be due to the fact, that atleast in 63, is that they used beds that i belive where from the late 50s to 1960 look at your tail lights, if they are circles you have the early bed... if they are long rectangles, its the "correct" bed... mine has the circles

This truck has round tail lights, did they does this from factory or think it was probably a swap ?

round tail lights would be the wrong style bed... it was installed from the factory... that would be the reason as to why the bed dosent line up with the cab...

could possibly be wrong... i am learning just from what i read on here but there are others who are experts on these trucks and tell me if im right or wrong...

The Styleside bed used from 1957/60 was also used on some 1961/66 pickups. This bed has round taillights.

1961/66 Styleside pickups using the 1957/60 bed: 1961/63 F100/250 2WD / 1961/65 F100/250 4WD / 1961/66 F350 / 1966 F250 4WD.

The Uni's were introduced 1961, dropped midyear 1963 over safety concerns. When the frame flexed due to cargo in the bed, the doors popped open.

Lap (only) seat belts were optional back then, and most trucks didn't have them. When the doors popped open, peeps could and did fall out of the cab.

The term Uni is a misnomer. The correct Ford terminology is INTEGRAL cab, because the cab is integral with the bed.

All Ford pickups are body on frame construction.

A Uni-Body is a vehicle without a frame, the entire frame/body is a one piece welded unit, with only a stub frame in front where the engine bolts on.

Most cars are Uni-Bodied today (every Mustang from 1965 thru today is a Uni), as is the poseur Honda Ridgeline. The Ford Aerostar is also Uni-Bodied.
