Will be painting a big red & white bullseye for "Ike" on the roof of our Escape when we pack up & head off to Fla in AM. Models all look good for missing our corner of the world that we have rented for the week. Might get a lil' wind & rain later in the week as it blows by.
I think it will be throwing LA into a tizzy when it gets into the lower Gulf. Thats gonna' be a mess. Heck there's still folks up here that haven't left yet. Anyway, the place is supposed to have net access so I might check in or post a pic or two if I get bored. Yall have a good weekend. |
What's going on with everyone today? I've finally got back online, had a few problems but everything is working fine now. Looks as though it's been a little slow around here, I guess everyone is trying to recover from gustav. As David sez, looks like Ike is coming into the gulf, gonna be interesting!!

Morning Mississippi...hope everyone enjoys their Sunday!!!

Got up this AM, walked out on the deck with my coffee. Watched the terns, gulls & pipers feed at the waters edge. Pelican flying low & a pod of porpises about 30-40 yards off shore. Gulf is almost mirror flat.
Life is good. |
I'm burnt. Spent all day on Sardis yesterday.
Truck didn't break dowm, boat didn't break down and we actually caught some fish. It was a rather unusual day.:-missingt |

Just a note from the coast
I got back late Thursday from the first trip in the new 150. We had planed a trip to Disney World before we bought the truck. Gustave messed with the family plans as the wife works in management for one of the casinos here and had to stay and work on the storm closing and reopening. The truck was wonderful. We got 16.77mpg overall for a bit over 1500 miles with one section of highway (275 miles, 76mph average) at 19.33mpg.

Watching Ike spin on the NOAA satellite over cuba & decided to touch base.
Monarch butterflies are migrating & this is supposed to be a major jumping-off point. They warm up their wings & get a last bite to eat on a huge orange lantana bush between our house and the one next door. By 8:30 its covered in dozens of em'. Then they take to the wind blowing out of the NE toward Mexico. Its really strange to see these fragile things heading out over the water knowing they won't see land for a really long time, if at all. Got pics, but they're stuck in camera cause I had no stick in it (at the time) & no cord to down load. But I do have this: |
Good Monday afternoon Mississippi!!!
