P0261 Cylinder 1 Injector Circuit Low

Got this code P0261. Engine does not sound good - missing and using more fuel then before. Replaced injector, nothing changed, so I just disconected it so it would not flood the cylinder with fuel, but need to fix the problem, any ideas?

Aybody have an answer to this? I get codes for all 8 cyl's.
Injector 1-8 circuit low??? What is going wrong with my truck?

Sounds like a harness issue. Hopefully more knowledgeable persons will chime in soon.

One other thing to check is the FICM fuel injector control module. :-X0A6

If you were able to scan the truck what diagnostic trouble codes did you find. :-huh

Culvert 08-25-2008 11:45 AM

When I looked up my codes they where P0261, P0264, P0267, P0270, P0273, P0276, P0279, P0282. Which is all 8 Injector Cirucit Low.

This wknd I reset codes, did an oil change and now she starts like crap. 10-15 sec cranking then thick black smoke and a really lumpy idle. For sure is is not running on all cyl. Couple sec of ideling and then it smoothes out and runs fine. No new codes yet after 2 days of driving just the bad starts??

Not sure what the problem is now. And untill I get a CEL with codes nothing dealer will do.

My truck got the same 8 codes when starting at night with the 5th attached. I attributed it to a drop in battery voltage with all the additional lights on, while starting. It hasn't done it without the trailer, nor has it caused any driveability issues. Just codes.

Update:
Checked the harness over the weekend. Applied 12 volts to injector side wires and tested on the FICM sided wires, all 4 wired checked out as working wires, unless there is other proper way to check on it. Also, it passes injector buzz test. Changed injector again just to be on the safe side, no luck. :-banghead

Is there a way to check FICM without taking the truck to the dealer?
Could it be something wrong with the cylinder itself, like HG leaking or rings or something else?

any update on this? I got all the same codes plus a P0611 FICM Performance. And after i got my oil changes it started like crap for a few weeks then cleared up. that was a few months ago

I just got my truck back from the dealer with the p0261, 404, and 611 codes. For the 261 they replaced the FICM module, for the 404 they replaced the egr, and the 611 was the FICM relay...only drove her about 10 miles since but no more power loss or surging!!!!

That's good news. Interesting though, my FICM failed and I didn't have any codes. No other problems. Dealer replaced the FICM and it's been great since.

When i took my truck in they said sometimes when you program the truck it will throw those codes. The thing that got me is my edge insight did not even pick them up.. I got them when i hooked up my programmer to put it back to stock before i took it in.

Is there a way to check your FICM, and where is it?

69cj 10-30-2013 05:35 PM

There sould be a procedure in the tech folder.
