Ethos, does it work?

Has anyone had a chance to try the Ethos stuff? Just curious, if not, I will give it a shot, a 20% in gas mileage would be nice.

I did that, there were no responses on mileage results on the previous ping related threads, so an attempt to resurrect the topic, or maybe a new member in the expedition forum might have used it. http://www.savegastoday.net/

Snake oil.

nfntruth 06-23-2008 03:47 PM

From experience or just a negative outlook?

berry1234 06-23-2008 04:02 PM

Uncle tried it in his Dodge Dakota. Nothing, no improvement. I wish it worked.

nfntruth 06-23-2008 04:15 PM

Thats one of the answers I was looking for, to see if anyone actually tried it. Thanks

we'll go with the saying if it sounds to good to be true it is. Remember MFG.s have to meet CAFE standards. They want their vehicles to get the best possible fuel economy too while meeting emissions. I think these vehicles today are about as close as you can get to the max in fuel economy (maybe 10% lower then the best possible). If adding something like a additive was a 20% boost they'd be doing it from the factory.

That may be partially true, but also remember that the oil industry is bigger than the auto industry, and I can imagine some significant relationships between the two. I think engine efficiency may be getting near its peak, but the rest of the drive train has a long way to go. The 6speed auto is a start. CVT transmissions are also an option. Aerodynamics are also going to become a bigger deal over "fashion" appeal. To put into perspective, if I can go from 12 mpg to 14 mpg and I drive 10000 miles a year that would mean I would use about 115 gallons less, which saves me probably about 500 dollars a year before the year ends. Thats a chunk of cash. For those that drive even more, the savings become more significant. So if they can squeeze out another 1 or 2 mpg, it will definitely be worth it.

As for ethos, you're probably right, I might order the 16oz bottle and see if there is a difference. I will take advantage of the money back guarantee if needed. So 2mpg, or about 20% increase would save me 500 a year in gas minus the 100 dollars a year it would cost me in ethos if it performed as advertised would still be a significant 400 dollars, but if it sounds too good to be true...it probably is.

Well!!! snake oil is a common term on another forum describing this stuff as well!! Truth is I`ve used it for 7 tanks in my 01 E-350 5.4 ,loaded w/tools all the time & most miles are around town miles= before using it=10.2 mpg,,,,,, 1st tank using it 11.5 mpg, 2nd tank=12.2 mpg & now getting 13.4 mpg...

call it a fluke, snake oil, hokey pokey ,whatever !!!!!!!!!!!!!!I`m getting 25-30% better mpg now than over the last 7 yrs & with the cost of fuel I`ll continue to use it ( just took delivery of a gallon )
The key for some users is to reset there computers default settings after putting it in by disconecting the battery & leaving it disconected for a few hours ?? I did not have to do this but the ethos forum I`ve visited a few times has the proper usage info.

So, take it or leave it !!!!!! I`m taking it and saving $$$$$$$$ using it.

Fixin to try it out in my 08 f-350 diesel!!!

cowboy432 09-09-2008 08:25 PM

30% better mpg!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ok , I treated my 08 f-350 4x4 diesel & within the first 200 miles my average mpg went from 11.8 to 15.2 :-jammin Its only the first tank but I`ll keep on using this snake oil as some call it ,hell thats 3.4 miles more per gallon or approx 30 % more mpg ,my gosh I`d be an idiot not to continue the test!!

I am sure a light foot and paying much attention to easy driving is what delivered the results.

cowboy432 09-09-2008 08:43 PM

What ever make you feel better man , I certainly don`t need to defend my self or driving habits or any thing else for that matter . The proof is in the pudding !!!!!!!! I use it in my 01 e-350 with results posted in this thread #10 .
I did 200 miles this after noon after treating the crankcase oil as specified & the fuel tank as specified & had been getting 11.8-12.4 mpg for a few months , I drove the 200 miles of which 100 was city driving & 100 @ 55-65 mph limit, did not change driving habits and theses are my results! Period !
Take`m or leave`m!!!!!!!

Monsta 09-09-2008 10:27 PM

Hmmmm...you have to add it to your crankcase in order to get full benefit. Wonder what it is doing to the bearing surfaces?

cowboy432 09-14-2008 07:56 AM

Still getting 22-28%

Monsta, I ain`t no mechanic but I`,m guessing you might be or ya wana be? cause I don`t have the slightest idea as to the full possibility's of what it may or may not be doing to the bearings not to mention ALL the other parts & pcs it comes in contact with ,maybe you could share your knowledge with us on exactly what ethos will do?? first hand of course !. Al I know is its a non chemical lubricant of no harm to humans & its definitly working for me!!!! no questions asked!!!! in all my vehicles !!!!!!!!!!

I ain`t no big race fan or any other sport for that matter but I think Al Uncer & his son are Indy racers from past & present & I`m guessing they know something about engines, just maybe?
Yea I know!!! there getting paid to use it & say it works!! well I ain`t & neither is all the other users .

Ya can`t teach some old dogs new tricks  but hey you can try !
If a person was not to convinced in there mind that everything out there is snake oil & that maybe one of those products actully works ,well maybe this does ?
Take a few minutes & look at this video >>>>
Ethos Report - Truveo Video Search

I ain`t selling this stuff I`m only trying to share my great sucsess with others!! Plain & simple!!!!
