1995 Explorer Premium Sound System, Wiring Diagram, Amp Location?? Help

I am trying to add a amp to the stock system if a 1995 E.B. Explorer. Does anyone know where the amp is located? Also, I want to tap into the low level signal before it reaches the amp so I can run that to my add on amp. Does anyone know where to get a wiring diagram for the system? Thanks in advance.

I was wondering if you found any information on this problem. I am installing two twelve in subs and I am not getting any bass output out of my subs and I need some help with it.

The factory amp is in the right rear quarter panel in the luggage area. Easy to remove, some screws, bolts, etc.

I Just replaced the factory amp on my 95' Explorer. Used a 200 watt, 4 channel amp (AudioVox Rampage). This is a great amp. I got it at Pep Boys for $50 plus tax.

Recommend you replace the factory speakers as I did. I don't think the factory units can handle the extra power, bass, and treble that the new amp puts out. I'm really impressed with the new sounds.

You also need to purchase a ground isolator/level converter. The factory radio drives the factory amp at speaker levels, so you need a level converter for the amp low level inputs. Also, the low level inputs are usually common ground which won't work with your factory radio, thus the ground isolation is required. I bought mine at Radio shack has these for $15 each, you need two, but later saw a 4 channel unit at Kragen for $20.

good luck, borland
