Power Steering Pump reservoir cap???
Our truck ('79 F-150 4x4 351M/Auto) doesn't have a cap on the power steering pump reservoir (we have the plastic reservoir not the metal one) and we can't find/figure out where to get a cap for the reservoir. . .I've seen the dipsticks for the power steering pumps but I don't see where it goes on our steering pump. In all of the online pictures of the power steering pump that I have seen (Autozone, Schucks, etc.) there isn't a cap on it either. What kind of cap is the reservoir supposed to have and where can we get one. . .we've already been junkyard scavenging for one. The only one that I've seen come with a cap is the Extra Duty version but it's way more expensive (twice as much) and we just don't feel like buying a whole new Extra Duty power steering pump when all we need is a cap for the reservoir.
Same question for a dipstick for the engine oil. . .ours came without one and I can't find one for the 351M anywhere. . .I got one from the junkyard but it didn't fit (I didn't check to see if the truck I got it from was 4WD or not so I'm guess that the odds worked against me and it was 2WD so it won't fit our 4WD oil pan!!! Thanks FTE!!! |
i think ford rangers and explorers have the same pump, it is a common pump. 351m, 400 same dipstick.
