Manual Clutch Life

Would like to know if any one has any information on the life or about what the life of a clutch on a manual Tran does. I have a 2001 F-350 and pull a 5th-wheel across this country, oh the 5th is 16000 LB. I have 90000 miles and it is still doing pretty good, but am planning a trip to Alaska and woundering if I should think about changing it.

think your in the wrong sub-forum bud

i would think the average life of a clutch would differ from driver to driver and seeing as how most of your driving is presumably highway and your clutch isnt starting to slip (i assume) then i would think you would be fine for another 10000k.

i have a 2000 f-350 that just passed 190,000 with the original clutch. i pull a work trailer 5-6 days a week for landscaping with lots of stopping a backing to manuever trailer. it is just now starting to get soft. i have replaced the slave and master cylinder previously. i use to have a 25 ft 5th wheel that i pulled for approx. 10,000 miles. as they say in the ads, "your mileage may vary", but if you aren't riding it or slipping it a lot it should last.

Welcome to FTE wildolsen & billyjoejimbob. As mentioned you somehow ended up in the wrong section. The superduty section is here Super Duty And Heavy Duty - Ford Truck Enthusiasts Forums and the 7.3 PSD section is 1999 - 2003 7.3L Power Stroke Diesel - Ford Truck Enthusiasts Forums

You'll get many more responses if you post in those sections. For what it's worth my clutch started to slip at 2200 rpms when I was around 212,000 miles. I changed it 2 days later so I don't know how much longer I could have milked it. I figure if it lasts that long might as well swap it out without complaints.
