veg oil

ok im new to this stuff but i was wondering what different kinds of oil you can use and what you got to do to use it.

I use WVO from a piza place. I filter through 1 micron bag filter. You want to make sure there is no water in the WVO.

well the main reason i was asking is i work at a place that makes oil for almost every fast food place and if i could get new oil cheaper and wouldnt have to filter it. also will only veg oil work and do you just pour it right in with the diesel

I run a 2 tank system. I start on Diesel and when the engine is warm I switch to the WVO tank.
My front tank has a heater in the tank to heat the oil. I have a heated fuel filters and fuel lines.

Some people blend Diesel with veg oil. There is more risk with blending than runing a 2 tank heated system.

The new oil is probably going to be too high, but since you work there, have you priced it? You need some way to heat it, what kind of truck do you have? THe old ford IDI engines were a lot more forgiving than the newer powerstrokes. I run Veggie in my 84 and my 88 with only a Heated Fuel filter under the hood, no problems in almost 2 years.

well the oil gets out dated and they send it to the dump so im sure i can get it cheap and i drive a 90 7.3 with dual tanks and i dont plan on driving the truck in the winter also we make veg oil and like corn oil and soyebean salad oil will those work to. and is your fuel heater stock

How much is going to the dump?

twwtruck 05-03-2008 11:59 AM

usually not to much but if i can use it i will get all i can afford

If it's out of date, give it a sniff to see if if it's rancid. I believe the rancid stuff is on it's way to growing algae (not good for truck). Someone correct me if I'm wrong.
