Biodiesel in a 1990 pre-powerstroke 7.3l diesel?

I've got an old 1990 pre-powerstroke 7.3l diesel, and I'm seeing more and more biodiesel at stations these days, and I want to know if it is safe for my engine or not.

Comments like "That was mostly a problem with engines older than 1994" make me a little nervous.

Anybody done it, and if so, what blend and how long?

Thanks,

Barry

Any blend from B-2 through B-20 is usable with NO mods necessary. If you go above B-20 you may need to replace the rubber return lines. Ford is rather "iffy" on there fuel lines after 1999. I've been making and using my own bio for almost 5 years, and my son has been using B-100 in the summer, and B-80 in the winter in his 2000 F-350 with no problems at all.

Carry a fuel filter with you as the gunk in the bottom of the tank built up over the years will come out and foul the filter.
