Small Scale Bio Cost per Gallon

So with the cost of diesel I am going to jump into making my own fuel.

What type of cost are you folks that are already doing this seeing per gallon of fuel made ?

I am of course not counting start up cost to build processor, my time and looking at WVO for no charge from suppliers.

I will of course factor that cost in later.

Thanks

It depends on weather you can find bulk chemicals close to where you live, or weather you have to buy off the Internet (more expensive). I've been making and using for almost 5 years now and have a very good chemical supplier, buy in bulk, and recover a good percentage of my Methanol. My cost is between $.75-$1.00 per gallon.

Thank you, you seem to be the master around here

like tr0y I want to at least start small with a hundred or so gallons per month. With methanol at over $500 for a 55 gallon barrell Plus the 400+ miles drive to go get it.
I will have to find out more about methanol recovery. Any suggested reads?

I am still figuring out how I am going to start this. I have a shop, but getting the equipment shipped up here is expensive. Figure a processor kit, the methanol, titration kit, plumbing, KOH, and all would be at least $5,000. Any ideas?I can get steel and plastic barrels and a used H2O heater if needed. Have to figure out the plumbing.

Oh...not many resturaunts around here. Getting the WVO might be a little tough. KOH shuldn't be a problem.
