sorry I never bought the steel wheels, I was going to but I found the current wheels at a great price so I just put them on instead.

I know alot of you have wanted to see pics of the stance of the truck so here they are. This wll be the final ride height, I decieded to go this way because it sits lower than stock by a good bit but it doesnt sit so low that I cant go down a bumpy road and worry about bottoming out. Let me know what you think.

I forgot to mention that the truck sits 28.5" from the ground to the center of the fender lip in the front and 28.75" from the ground to the center of the fender lip in the rear. That makes it 1/4" higher in the rear but its not enough to notice and I bet once I get the fuel tank and spare along with the WVO tank installed it will level out pretty good.

UPDATE!! I finished all the brake lines today. I figured it woud be harder but it wasnt really. I did have to mix and match fittings alot due to useing the 07 crown vic disc brakes with a 94 mustang proportioning valve and the 03 chevrolet hydroboost/ master cylinder. I just need to fill it with fluid and bleed them and that is one more thing to cross off the list.

I dropped off the fittings for the power steering system/ hydroboost and I will be picking up the completed hose setup tomorrow so that should be installed tomorrow afternoon.

I also finished the steering shaft today so the steering is operational I just need to wire in the 79 tilt steering column.

I did run into a problem today with the oil feed line that runs to the turbo. I will be working that out tomorrow.

I am making progress now so I guess thats all that matters. I sure hope to get the truck running sometime this week just as soon as I get the turbo oil line fixed.

there is what i have so far im going to pick up some rust free inner fenders and core support this weekend off a friend truck that has a sad story about falling off a car lift:eek:

That's a great ride height. And the wheels look good on that truck. Again, great thread. I'm in the process of putting a 700R4 mated to a 390, but with the price of gas and plus I've been thinking 3.9L using WVO. Your project is inspiring. Thanks.

I was at the junkyard today looking aroud to see what I could find and found a rear axle that would fit in my truck perfectly with the wheels I have so I picked it up ro $150.00. I was going to have the 2007 crown vic axle shortened but that would involve shipping the axles to have them shorteded then taking the houseing... anyway its a big pain so I decided to go with this setup. This is still an 8.8 rear axle with 3.27 gears and limited slip with disc brakes but it is out of a 93 crown vic. I will try and swap the calipers and vented rotors from the 2007 crown vic to the 93 vic rear axle since they only have around 15k miles on them.

Some useful info on rear axles.

93 crown vic 64.5" outside hub to hub 28 spline with limited slip or open diff
98 explorer 59.75" outside hub to hub 31 spline with limited slip in the V8 models
07 crown vic 70.0" outside hub to hub 28 spline with limited slip or open diff

Car22, that truck is HOT!!!!!
I think your stance is perfect.
On the rear end, does the "07" rear not match the front assembly width wise?
Is the shorter rear end to get the wheels inside the fenders?

Keep us updated this thread is great!

Yes the 07 rear axle is 70" and too wide for the truck. The 07 rear makes the tires and 07 dodge magnum wheels stick outside the fenders by a couple inches in each side. I was going to shorted the 07 rear axle by several inchs ( I think around 5" all together) to make it all fit right but I got lucky finding the 93 crown vic rear axle that fits almost perfectly and I couldnt beat the price. I will try and put the 07 vented rotors and calipers on the 93 rear since the 07 calipers are practically new with only about 15,000 miles and the 93 has around 100,000 miles. Anyway the 93 rear will be getting new bearings and probably new clutches inside te traction lock unit since its out and I will be trying to install the newer calipers and rotors.

I wish I could get back to work on it since I was making great progress while I was home but I had to go to south texas for work again. I can see the light at the end of the tunnel though. I finally have the list of things to do down to one page. woohooo!!

im wondering do ya know the hp/torque of that lil deisel??

carcrafter22 05-19-2008 10:50 PM

around 126hp/260tq. Although I have put a much larger turbo on already and will be turning the pump up as well. I am hopin for around 225-250hp/400-500tq after I am finished with it but thats later on of course, I need to get it driving first. LOL.

I have been away working and wont be home till next week but I have been buying lots of things on the net for when I get home. Things like radiator, spring perches, shocks, etc. I also just bought a new fuel filler neck made of stainless and it even has the word diesel engraved in it, I just had to have it. Another cool thing is that I only paid $10 for it.

I hope to get a tank that goes under the bed (maybe the factory auxiliary tank) and run the fill neck to the inside of the bed instead of the outside of the bed.

carcrafter22 05-27-2008 06:46 PM

Update!! I have been gone for a while but now I am home and have been working on the truck all day. I picked up a new intercooler and radiator out of an 05 dodge with cummins and I bought a 17 gal fuel tank from an 03 ford ranger. I bought all this stuff for $250 which I figured was way too cheap to pass up. I did have to do quite a bit of modding to make everything fit though and I am still working on the fuel tank but will have pics of it all tonight. I was pretty happy with how the intercooler and radiator fit and it whould provide plenty of cooling for the little diesel I am going to run.

This is a COOL build thread. I am VERY surprised that the ford "purists"(you know who you are)...havent chimed in about the isuzu/700r4(both GM). Glad to see you think outside the box. Very nice work BTW. Good Luck.

OK - Dumb Question here. How do you post all those pictures?

hotrod66_57 05-28-2008 06:11 PM

To post the pictures I think the easiest way is to put them online, somewhere like photobucket.com and then upload them from there.

On the reply page you have those buttons at the top of the place where you type (where the font and bold buttons are). the forth button from the right has a picture of mountains. if you click that and type in the url for the picture you uploaded to say photobucket it will insert a piece of code in your post that when you submit the post results in the picture being displayed, hope that helped.

hotrod!
