Warn Hubs - Standard vs Premium

Tax money is comming back and I get a little bit of it to do some X upgrades. One thing I'm looking at is swapping out ESOF hubs for Warn Hubs. As I am shopping around, I found there are 2 models - Standard (#11690) and Premium (#38826). Pirce is about a $50 +/- difference. I talked with a local 4x4 shop and he said the differnce between the 2 are the Premium has all metal parts and the standard have 'some' plastic parts. The Premium also carries a Limited Lifetime Warrenty.

I don;t really do a lot of 4x4'ing (no stump jumping), but we get a sonw every now and then, and then there are rare ocaisions that a friend calls and needs a pull. So - do I really need the Premium hubs? I know $50 is not a big difference, but I'm trying to spread my upgrade $$ and gets as much as I can.

Thanks

This question really is a no-brainer.

If you could buy a chain saw with plastic parts for $50 less, would you? Of course not! :-D

are they a direct replacement for the factory hubs....held in place with the snap ring?

Get some Mile Marker hubs. They are really nice. Part number 449SS. Here are some on eBay link for cheap

From what I have read, the Mile Marker hubs are harder to engage than the Warn hubs. It looks like the Warn premium hubs and the Mile Marker top of the line are about on par and it is really up to personal preference of the driver as far as which one to get.

I would definately go with the Warn Premium Hubs. They have been doing hublocks longer than anyone out there.

My truck came with Warn hubs, no idea if they're standard or premium. What I do know is that they work great. I would prefer to not have to get out of the truck to engage and disengage them, but that is something I can live with.

I haven't taken these things apart, but they seem to be of primarily metal construction, if not entirely. My hope would be that any plastic parts would be inconsequential, especially for your low 4x4 use.

I think my real question, though, is if you need to change your hubs at all? If your factory hubs are still working, then save the money now and when they actually need attention, then put on the Warn hubs. Like I said, my truck came with these. Otherwise, I wouldn't change them until the factory ones broke. I, too, have fairly light 4x4 use.

does anyone have a website to get the Warn hubs?

NAPA auto parts is a great place for the Warn hubs. I have had both and the MileMarkers look great with their stainless caps but, have crappy internals that corrode quickly. The Warn Premiums have internals that are first class and they look great.
