The curve is different at the front of the rear door, the vent shade is flat at the front to fit into the frame for the vent window. I would be interested too if such a thing was ever made for a crew cab.

I'm pretty sure any pictures you saw were just two front kits installed seeings how the rear doors are just front doors cut down and use the same glass I can't see why they shouldn't fit.

I have a spare and upon test fit, it is not shaped right.

79 crew cab conversion

I just bought a 79 f150 crew cab 2wd short bed. I am going to make it a 4x4. I have a 78 regular cab long bed f150 4x4 that I am going to use for parts. I am looking for the best way to do it. Weather to use 4x4 parts on the crew cab frame or put the crew cab on the 4x4 anyone with any thoughts. I plan on driving this forever.

Ford never made a F150 crew cab... have you got any pictures of yours?
I'd put the 4x4 parts onto the crew cab frame.
If you do it the other way around you will either have to stretch the frame, or you will have to shorten the box. Or ditch the box and build a super shorty flatbed.

Well I put the crew cab on the reg cab frame with a shortened box and I'm pretty happy with it. If you look around you'll find a bunch of people that's converted the crew cab frame to four wheel drive.

I'm not saying it can't or hadn't been done, just pointing out the obvious, its going to be work any way you go.

I know where there is a very damaged crew cab and I thought about buying it, to build a 1/2t 4x4 for fun.

This guy is going to crush it one of these days.

But what about shenanigans?

Skip1970 08-25-2016 05:56 AM

how in the heck do they run them engine backwards? ive always wondered that.

phlegm 08-25-2016 06:07 AM

My guessing heavy duty transfer case/drop box with gears that reverse rotation of the output shafts.

Or reverse rotation gears in the differentials.

phlegm, you are right I made a typo it's an f250 sorry about that. Still thinking about doing it. When I have a few minutes I'm going to measure things and see how small the box will be. I have a 79 f150 supercab short box that I was originally going to put on the donor 78 f150 but with the crew cab I am undecided.

My 75. Yeah it has a little rust in places but the engine and tranny were rebuilt recently. Not sure if its a keeper yet, but the wife and kid like it better than my old powerstroke, so theres that.
