Wyofordguy, there are a few rear door regulators on ebay right now but they are pricey. I have extra door parts but I'm not sure if I have any extra regulators. I know I just used a pair to piece together a set of doors so I can sell them. I'll look around to see what I have.

Sweet. I would really appreciate that. I could use the two pieces of sheet metal the regulator mounts too also, if you find one and can spare them.

I do have extra sheet metal panels. I will look around over the weekend to see exactly what I have. I'll PM you with what I got.

So, January 23rd this year, I hit some ice on an overpass and flipped my 2005 F250 CCSB with 6.0l modified with bigger injectors, turbo, studs, egr delete. The cab is toast, everything else is fine. Actually drove it into the garage. My son found a craigslist find in Texas. Luckily I have a friend in East Texas that is a hot shotter. Wired him the money and he picked it up for me. It will be here in a week or so. I am planning on putting this almost rustfree body on my 05 frame. I would like to transplant the seats and be modifying the 78 dash to accommodate the 05 conveniences. Don't know if I want to try and replace the dash with the 05 dash or just modify. I am planning on using all of the 05 wiring and none of the 78. Adding power windows and locks. Anybody have any insight on this project? I am planning on replacing 78 firewall with 05 firewall and using 05 air too.

did the front of the 05 frame seperate where its cut?

ncbondsman 02-10-2016 08:12 PM

I will have to check to see if it did. Is that a common issue after a rollover? I was only going 30-35mph.

I've got a pair of Crew Cab 4x4's

I've only had the '75 since late August and it is getting some upgrades, a facelift, and paint. Eventually its capabilities will be similar to the 2005. But I'm keeping a gas motor.

I've been reading a ton of the leaf spring upgrade threads like this one
recommended superduty springs for f250 swap -- Ford-Trucks.com
I just started the process to install 2009 F250 rear leaves with a shackle reversal and a 38gallon rear tank swap.

I've been documenting the build of the '75 so far on the Old Ford Crew Cabs site, but I've used so much information from FTE that I felt I needed to say 'hi'.

I may not be the fastest worker, but I guarantee lots of pictures and lots of redneck/low tech solutions to everyday problems.

The original 19gallon tank was full of rust, I changed the fuel filter at the carburetor 5 times and I never even left the yard. It had to go, and for a few dollars more I upgraded to a 38 gallon.

I'm hoping to be driving this thing with the new tank and rear springs by the end of next week, it is already licensed and insured.

I'm sure someone has tried doing this before, but I'd like to install seats out of a crew cab superduty in my 78 Crew cab. Does anyone have any experience or links to photos/information?

phlegm 02-15-2016 09:37 AM

Its been done lots of times, but finding an actual writeup of how its done has been an impossible task.

ebay - 1978 Ford F350 King Ranch White Crew Cab -- truck for sale OFCC.com
eBay ad for that truck shows that it is running newer King Ranch Super Duty seats.
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Ford-F-350-King-Ranch/322003968571?_trksid=p2045573.c100033.m2042&_trkparms=aid%3D111001%26algo%3DREC.SEED%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D35412%26meid%3D9fd1095aba72498c93377c9508f5cd67%26pid%3D100033%26rk%3D4%26rkt%3D4%26sd%3D151978170582
A company called Bent Metal Customs recently built a '75 Crew Cab and they also used Super Duty seats.
(I know the years on these don't match, I don't make the titles, I just report them. Same truck though.)

This Flickr album has a lot of very nice professional pictures of that same truck.
BMC Ford F250 Crew Cab -- flickr.com
Bent Metal Customs own webpage has a lot of bare metal build pics.
1977 FORD F250 CREW CAB -- BentMetalCustoms.com

This guy put in seats out of an Excusion (same basic platform as SuperDuty)

Eventually I'll be doing the same, but I will take pictures of the entire swap.

Frame is perfectly fine. still waiting on the crew cab to show up. I am planning on cutting out the floor of the 78 and grafting in the 05 floor. Also using the majority of the 05 firewall for ease of mounting blower box, brakes, pedals and steering column. Still planning on using the 78 dash but with 05 accessories.
I am really ready to get this project started. :-jammin

You can count on it. Once the truck arrives, I plan on documenting the whole process. I just hope it doesn't take years to accomplish. My wife will tell you I am a 90%er. I complete about 90% of my projects before my ADD kicks in and I move on to something else. :-drink

Phlegmn,
I saw your build of the 75 crew cab and it's great to see it coming back to be a ranch truck / daily driver. In your write up on Old Crew Cab web site it seems to me that the crew cab was a 2 WD converted to 4 WD using a stock 1978/79 crew cab. Hints to this are the bolt on front spring perches and married style transmission / transfer case/ and it most likely has an integrated power steering box bolted to the frame with 4 bolts. The other tell tale sign is that your frame is 37.5 " wide and all highboys should have been 34" wide frame at rear axle. The bed bolts area another reason as it looks like someone added tabs to bolt bed to frame. I see in one post you have the original door warranty tag with a factory type tag that looks like came in warranty paper work when bought new. If you check the vin I think it will show that it was a 2 WD from factory when decoded. Hope this information is useful with modification you plan for your truck in the future. The build is great and hope it continues as all FTE members like to see what others are building these days.

You are absolutely correct. The VIN decodes to a 1975 f250 COF 2wd.
I've know. It was a newer frame for quite some time now.
I am in the final steps of swapping in 2009 f250 leaf springs in the rear and the leaves that are in it were stock between 77-79.

The front leaves are also the ones spec'd for 77-79.

At some point in the past, my truck took a punch in the nose, I say this because it had a factory AC radiator support that still has the condenser and air drier attached along with some hoses.

But my truck does not have AC. Not factory or otherwise.

Honestly it's kind of nice that it's a bit screwed up. That way when I change it, I'm not losing any originality.
