Do all 460's have the oil pick-up in the front of the engine? I just picked up a 460 out of a 79 Lincoln , will this work in a 87 F150 4x4 with the pick-up in front?

No, not all have the sump in the front, trucks(4x4's) and vans have the sump in the rear. The reason is for clearance from the diff and/or I-beams. Cars don't have this problem being coil-sprung with A-arms. I think you would want to keep the sump in the rear (*not sure about your year!), but, in my '79 the sump HAD to be towards the rear. Many make conversion pans, some with extra capacity (mine holds 8 qts.) and of coarse you will need the pick-up to go with it. You could also go to a salvage yard and try to get one from a van with the pick-up to match-our mid to late 80's E-350 service vans with 460's had 'em.

L&L Sells the 7-Qt Baffled Pan, Melling pump and pick up, along with new dipstick tube for $275 not a great price.. but its Rear-sump... and it fits nice... I have recently installed a 460 into an 84 Bronco.
