Is it still this dry in Australia?

Drought is always one of my biggest fears here in Saskatchewan, Canada.
We`ve had a few very dry years but never as bad as this.
It`s very hard to imagine this:

Since I hate to be so far behind the times what`s the lastest word on the drought?

still bad although there has been rain sweeping across the country and bringing rain, ther is still large areas of the inner country which have not seen good heavy rain for a few years.Where i live is about half hour drive from the coast we have plenty of rain and no water restrictions, but 2 hours south to SYDNEY they have been on major water restrictions for some time now,so the druoght doesnt only affect the outback

It is still really dry - although I am back on one of my parents farms, and they had 3 inches on Christmas eve.
That was more rain than they had had all year in total.

Wow, here I was hoping for a big improvement. Is the temperature very warm too?
I hate drought, we had it though not near as bad or long as your`s and it was terrible for man and beast. The worst was the continuous blowing dust along with hi temps.

i was out at a friends before xmas and they have had more rain in the last few weeks than the year or so previous, the only problem is although there dams are full the rain is not getting to the major catchment areas.
