Fan for heater/ AC on high will not shut off
2005 Ford f350 6.0 with automatic climate control and blower fan for heater/ AC stays on highest setting even though it can be adjusted both on the steering wheel and the unit itself. Any suggestions?
I have already tried disconnected both batteries to see of the computer will reset itself and still a no go. |
There have been at least two posts on this same issue over the past month. If my memory is correct, replacing the blower control module fixed those problems. Check these two posts:

Thanks very much!! I honestly searched for a long time for this with no luck but thanks again for the link!!

Guys....does anybody know where this Blower Control Module is located? My truck is out of warranty and if it is an "easy" fix, I will just pick one up from Ford myself instead of paying the $113.00 per hour they charge.
|
I actually found out that Blower Control Module is the complete unit with the buttons on it. Ford's price is $404.85 plus tax. Part Number 7C3Z19980GA... I am going to try to pull it out and find the broken resistor first. Does anybody have any experience with trying to replace the resistor on this module?

That sucks. I really don't see how the resistors are built into the digital display unit, unless they have changed over the years. The resistors are usually bolted into the air duct somewhere, and look like this:

There is an electronic blower relay mounted on the AC box under the dash. This is most likely your problem.

Just priced the relay and it is only $11.15! Let's hope it is that!

Got the part and for the life of me...I cannot figure out where it goes??
|
I got a diagram from Ford last night when I bought this relay and it shows that it goes in the hold where the fan motor is. I took quite a bit of it apart last night but could not find the relay anywhere. Someone suggested it is located "under the dash" but if anybody knows for sure can they please let me know?
|
Just an update: After tearing the whole heating system apart, I found out that the relay that Ford gave me is not in my truck. The one they gave me is the one for the manual control unit and not a truck with automatic climate control. Oh well...live and learn. I have the new (more expensive one) on order, but still no guarantees that this will fix the problem. Oh....I now know a lot more about this truck and know exactly where the alternative unit goes.
|
Thanks for the update. When you do receive your new part weather it fixes the problem or not can you please continue to update us.
|
Well...the strangest thing happened. I get in my truck to go to the Ford Dealership to pick up the alternative part that they suggested and the fan level is back to normal. The fan levels can be adjusted by both the steering wheel and module controls. I brought back the wrong relay and am expecting it to break soon. As long as it working I am not going to spend any money on a possible fix. If anything changes I will update this post.
