Hauling firewood
 

Ok today I will be hauling a couple large loads of firewood with my truck. It will be the first time I have hauled anything since I did my exhaust work a while ago. It has pulled car trailors since, but I wasnt the one driving it so I dont know for sure if there was a big difference. She didnt do to bad in stock form except on bigger hills I had to keep it wound out pretty high. We'll see today if the longtubes and duals make a difference. Either way I still hate hauling stuff in the bed of my truck. For its age, the inside is in pretty nice shape. No rust or major dents just scuffs and scratches from it never having a bedliner.

If I were you, and you're planning on keeping that truck for while, I'd get a spray in bedliner asap. If you plan on doing any hauling you're going to jack up that bed. Plus, whenever I see a non-bedlined bed that has no dents/scratches/scuffs I always assume that guy is a grocery hauling wussy. Just my personal opinion ;)

Just dont throw any logs through your back window. My old man did that with our old beater about 10 years ago and we still remind him of it today.

It has its fair share of scuffs and scrapes, the wheel wells have a few dents in it, but the sides and the bottom is still straight and the scratches are only primer deep. Its not what you haul that matters, its how you haul it. I try to not throw stuff in it, just place it in. I still haul a good bit with it. Today I hauled 2 loads about 1000 lbs each and it did great. Keep it in D and go slow and its pulls all day long. Gonna cut some more tomorrow too. C ya!

Oh I know Im used to it! Today I hauled another load. The chainsaw broke or Id do another. And no Im not planning on keeping the truck or I would put in a spray in liner as well as some major performance mods. I am hoping to sell the truck before I gradumate highskule so I can get a car to drive to college. But after college Im going to buy a 2wd shortbed f150 with a 4.9 and 5 speed and make that my project. Make it look like a lightning but instead of a 5.8 have a turbocharged 4.9!

Well it will be more like 2-3 years at the most (tech school). And even if its in horrible shape I would find one somewhere. I am a body man so a bad body doesnt scare me. I would do the turbo setup myself and either get the engine built up or try and find a built one for sale on ebay or something or get a remachined block and buy the components and do it myself. Our garage is almost done so I would have somewhere at home to tear something like that apart and put it back together. Oh im getting excited already, better stop now!

Why not go with a blower? Does the 300 really have enough exhaust pressure to give a noticeable amount of boost?

Ford does it in australia with a modified version of the 250 in the falcons. Twin turbo too. I would imagine the 300 makes just about as much if not more than the 250 and those little 4 cylinders with weedwacker sized pistons you always see driving around.

I have been talking with my brothers about building a turbo 300. We have a couple different turbo sizes. Just have to find the time.
