LAST EDITED ON 12-Jun-01 AT 08:06 PM (EST)[p]Hi All,

I recently installed a Ready-to-run MSD Pro-Billet distributor on my 460 and I like it ALOT! Unfortunately MSD doesn't make a ready to run distributor for the FE's. They only make one that requires an MSD Ignition box...

So my question is this? Who Does?

Mallory makes a lot of FE/FT distributors

Guys- there is no such thing as a 'performance distributer'. The best dizzy for the FE is the duraspark. They were in 1975 and 76 390 and 360 powered trucks. Get a rebuilt one from the local parts store for 50 $. Then have the advance curve setup how ever your combination needs. You can use the duraspark dizzy to trigger any box you like- MSD, Crane, Jacobs or Accel. Aftermarket distributers are a complete waste of money. What is in your truck now ? DF

Well Dino,

I have a stock distrubutor witht the Mallor Unilite convertion..

Also I completely disagree with you about good aftermarket distributers. I installed a MSD-8350, ready to run electronic dist. into my 460 and I love it! very nice set-up....

I have a Mallory Unilite in my 390 and I love it. However, it was far from cheap, especially with the matching Mallory coil they say you need.

I run a MSD coil with my unilite, I think you only need the mallory coil if you also use the mallory ignition box

what I'm saying here is that those aftermarket dizzys don't do anything for you that the 50$ duraspark won't do. There are better places to spend the bucks. DF

LAST EDITED ON 14-Jun-01 AT 07:57 AM (EST)[p]That could be true, but when swapping the 460 into my bronco... it was MUCH easier to drop that ready-to-run MSD Dizzy in there... it has only 3 Wire hook up just like the old fashion point distributors... also that way I wouldn't have to deal with all the electronic mumbo-jumbo crap that my 1984 Bronco had.. considering that this 460 has none of that emmisions stuff..

Sometimes you pay for convienence, and besides MSD makes excellent ignition products.

The Duraspark units as far as I know rely on the computer, emissions to "play" with the timing, I could be wrong.

I'm running a stock Ford electronic single point distributor with a MSD 6a. I recurved the Ford dist. and it works great! I've also heard the stock Ford ignition boxes are fine for performance applications.
