11 sec diesel!!!

I just watched a 24v cummins run a 11.79 in the 1/4!!! I watched this truck run last year and it turned 12.5xx all day and tonite it ran 11.9, 11.7, 11.7... I think that is amazing it is a 4x4 too with street tires.... I was wondering if i put stock wheels and tires with 31's or 33's what do you think that i would run i know nowhere near that just curious.....

fast83 08-30-2007 04:13 PM

if you are talking about the 2000 model launching in 4X4 and before 2nd dropping it to 2X4 i would say low 13's

f350rebel 08-30-2007 08:58 PM

do you really think that quick i was looking for low 14's... that would be awsome if i ran a 13.... How hard is it on the 4x4 to change while under hard acceleration

With your current mods 15's are the best you can hope for. However with the lift and size tires you are running (and I don't see anything about gears), you'll be in the 16's.

You can't. Just run 4wd all the way down the track. You're under too much of a load while accelerating to shift out of 4wd. The transfer case and the hubs won't unlock until you slow down.

what would it take to get into the low 14's injectors, torque converter, valve body, gears,?

Injectors, turbo, transmission, gears, just to name a few. Gets expensive quick :-banghead

what I understand is all you have to do is let out of it for a second it will shift out of
4X4 and into 4X2 and you will gain power to the 2 wheels considering power loss through the drive train. Going out of 4X4 into 4X2 is easy on it going into 4X4 from 4X2 under a load will hurt it. with the right altitude and temps I think 13's is not out of the question but yes gears will be a large factor.

Why on earth would you let off the accelerator in a 1/4 mile drag race? Have you ever drag raced before? Or drag raced a diesel or a 4x4? As soon as you let off the pedal, you lose all turbo boost, and the auto transmission will upshift to the next gear. Then after the transfer case shifts (which sometimes can take up to 10 seconds) and by chance the front hubs do unlock (which might not even happen unless you back up), you then depress the accelerator pedal, the truck has to downshift, and spool up all over again. Instead of a 16 second quarter mile time, you're now in the 20's. The loss of power through the drivetrain is extremely minimal with 4wd. Test both. Run your truck in the 1/4 mile in 4wd, then again in 2wd, and you'll see the 4wd run will always have a quicker time because of the higher boosted launch. In street form you can't launch these trucks very well in 2wd because it's very difficult to build boost off the line, unless you have some slicks.

Again with his current mods, 13's are absolutely impossible. No single 7.3L Superduty with his mods has ever ever ever even hit 14's, even in perfect altitude and temperature. The best he could ever hope for with his current power mods is 15's, and that would be if he ran stock suspension and stock sized tires. I've got way more mods on my truck and I'm only running 15.4's at 6000 ft. If I'm lucky I could maybe hit 14.9's at sea level and perfect temps.

I don't see in your sig where you own a 7.3L. So where is your info coming from?

so maybe I should edit my post with from what I understand with speaking with others about this same thing. but yes I do drag plenty

I have to agree with Pocket. You'll way loose time. I tried mine in 2WD and 4WD and my 4WD times are WAY better.

My best time was when I had bigger injectors, NOS and stock turbo with the SCT tuned by Eric. It was a 13.6 second run.

Then I put on the Water/Meth, Bigger Turbo and a couple other things and ran a 14.6. That's really good if you consider it was coasting the last 1/3 or more of the track since the LPOP gears blew apart. ROFLMAO

Ahhhhhh I see now. The guys you are speaking to are definately blowing smoke up your keister. Might want to take what they say with a grain of salt. They are probably the same sort of people who look at the box of an aftermarket performance product and expect that it will give them every bit of the advertised horsepower.
