What Have You Found .......

that was helpful in your travels around the FTE site?

Well for the new members, I just want to mention that the blue arrow under the "Last Post" column in the main chapter thread will take you to the last post in that thread.

Buddy Lists

Do you guys use the buddy list feature that will show you who on your list is online?

To setup a buddy list while viewing a post, click on the username and then click on add.
http://i119.photobucket.com/albums/o.../buddylist.jpg

You then can open your buddy list by clicking on "Quick Links" in the blue tool bar at the top of any page and select "Open Buddy List".

Did you all know that you can edit your posts only for 60 minutes.

After that time, it will take a moderators assistance to change it.

glruff 08-17-2007 07:31 AM

Also if replying to or posting a new post, "Go Advanced" will allow you to add the "Smiley" emoticons to your post.:-wink

glruff 08-17-2007 09:05 PM

Do you know that the FTE site has automatic filters built in to monitor what is in a post because this is a family site?

Sometimes a post goes to the moderator pool and doesn't get post right away until it is screened for one of the magic words.

When the post does appear you may see that a word or too has been edited out.

For example, George Carlin's 7 words you can't say on TV would qualify as magic words. LOL

glruff 08-29-2007 03:44 PM

Good tip Steve.

glruff 09-13-2007 06:15 AM

Did you know that you can click of the number assigned to a post to get a direct link to that post?

Just above each post, to the right side of the page you will see #xx. Click on that number and it takes you to a new window that shows just that post. When the new window opens, just copy the link, close the window and paste it where you want.

Makes it easy for you to PM that info or post in a new post.:-wink

Thanks Frank, I had forgotten about that change.

glruff 11-08-2007 10:40 AM

Title Subject For Posts

Do you know why when you do a search it seems you can't find what you are looking for?

One of the reasons is because hardly anyone uses the "Title area" to post the main topic of the post.

If we all could remember to do this in the technical forums, like I did on this post, then it will make it easier to find what we are looking for.:-wink

tewferford 11-08-2007 04:54 PM

If I could find what I was looking for, I'd be on a yacht sucking down Daiquiris, with half naked women serving my every needs.

Ah crap I just woke up.

The "Official US Time Clock can be accessed HERE

FTE Trigger 11-10-2007 09:36 AM

I have found this site http://www.worldtimeserver.com/ for helping to find the best times to call the new CLs; Plan my Int'l buis. trips (figure out jet lag and landing times ahead of time :-D)- and it also helps with those pesky Int'l conference call planning periods.

glruff 11-10-2007 12:42 PM

Good link Rich.

Quick question, what side of your car is your gas tank? If you are anything like me, you probably can't remember right away. My solution is to uncomfortably stick my head out the window, strain my neck and look. If you don't do this in your own car you definitely have done it in a borrowed or rental car.

Well ladies and gentlemen, I'm going to share with you my little secret so you will no longer look like Ace Ventura on your way to the gas station or put your neck at risk of discomfort or injury.

If you look at your gas gauge, you will see a small icon of a gas pump. The handle of the gas pump will extend out on either the left or right side of the pump. If your tank is on the left, the handle will be on the left. If your tank is on the right, the handle will be on the right (see photo below). It is that simple!

https://i125.photobucket.com/albums/...TORS/tank1.jpg

Why don't the dealers share such important information with car buyers? I don't understand why this isn't in the drivers ed manual? I don't get why any mechanic I have ever been too or know has even thought of mentioning this to me? The only possible explanation can be that all these people probably don't even know!

BigBlueMacDaddy 11-13-2007 05:51 PM

Much better when the cars had the filler in the middle of the vehicle, behind the license plate. There was no "wrong side" then!

rbloodhound 11-13-2007 07:48 PM

Ever want a program to clean up and email that has been forwarded ten thousand times and you don't want all of those <<<<<<< to show? Well I found a FREE program to do that for me. It's called Email Stripper and info can be found here,,,,,,,

emailSTRIPPER

emailSTRIPPER is a free program for cleaning the ">" and other formatting characters out of your emails. It will restore "forwarded" or "replied" emails back to their original state so they're easier to read. (more...)

Bud, BPofMD emailed me this info.

Here's something for your Useful Tips Forum.
http://www.bedlib.org/ebsco.html

Click on the ARRC box, insert the word "library" for both the user name and password. It's maintenence manuals for most all vehicles with the electrical diagrams too.

Thanks Bud for the tip.:-X22
