Chassis lubrication?
I'm about to change the oil again and wanted to verify if there are any points on the chassis or anywhere that require grease or other lubrication. I couldn't find any grease zerks anywhere, but I don't want to overlook vital maintenance and have major problems down the road. I don't mind doing oil changes at all, but lubing the steering and suspension system was a messy pain on my old '97 GMC safari with its 11 or 13 grease points. For this oil change I'm sticking with the Motorcraft 5w/20 synthetic blend and Motorcraft oil filter from Wal-Mart. The next oil change will be at about 13,500 miles at which point I'll probably put Mobil1 5w/20 in and run to 5,000 miles.

I don't think so. I could not find any when I looked. I think it is kind of like the transmission "sealed" for "life" however long that might be.
I think the goal at some future point for car manufactures is to have a total "sealed" car that just makes it past warranty, then falls apart. I did notice that the owners manual gives a part# for transmission fluid but offers no directions on how to check the fluid level or where to fill the transmission as there is no dipstick. So I guess it is a dealer service only. |
